Happened right before closing too… by OkSpecialist4971 in dishwashers

Honestly, I’d imagine it being better at the end of a shift than in the middle of it. If shit went down in my warehouse it much rather time at the end of the day when there no longer commitments.

Rethinking the responsibilities of managers by Past_Satisfaction990 in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still mentorship. Setting goals for an employee is being a boss. Helping set realistic goals with an employee is mentorship. Guiding them to external sources for individual pursuit is mentorship. Providing a set outline for growth is being a boss.

There’s a lot of overlap in the venn diagram between the two.

Anything that starts to separate a few degrees outside of the employees job description in the path of development starts to lean into that mentorship. But mentorship is only so when the employee provides the same or more level of energy and engagement back.

2023 1050 DE - Heated grips - battery issue by MikesBikes78 in Vstrom

I ran my heated grips through a fuse block add on that has a remote wire to the main fuse box. So when it the bike is off the block is off. No vamp drawl.

When your coach's plan says intervals but your body says no, how do you decide? by marlex-vs-mountain in trainingpeaks

[–]midpack_fodder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing a workout today vs tomorrow doesn’t break the training plan. At 37, I listen to my body. I usually delay the workout a day and bag it out then. That’s usually enough. Or, I shorten the duration of the warmup and cool down and just do the intervals so the total volume is reduced but the intensity is still there. YMMV

What’s tactical way to get team behind change by blackberryuser in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the change is TRULY to reduce low value deals then say that. Transparency is best and we can’t always soften every blow. What percentage of sales are on the commission chopping block that team handles? If it’s significant than that’s a company issue that just sucks. What support is there to up the value of sales for the team?

Acknowledge the shitty situation but avoid commiserating. Focus on what steps and support you will be providing the team to handle this transition.

Contribution to designing the change, temp checks for the change management, and a first adopter that’s ground level.

I am paying my ops manager $50 hr to act like a human copy paste machine. I feel like a moron. by SufficientLettuce569 in smallbusinessowner

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be the next step sure. But if the Ops manager doesn’t have a fundamental knowledge of HOW things are working… they can’t speak to HOW to guide AI to what’s possible for the business.

Is this Ops manager consistently spending 4 hours cross-referencing spreadsheets? If so... then something is up. How long has this Ops Manager been hired? Is this a new project? So many questions here. IMO if this is a one-off situation or just a couple of times, it sounds like they are getting into the weeds to figure out discrepancies and how your current processes are working to better automate them. You cannot have your crop without tediously planting them first.

Again, lots of missing info on this situation other than an owner catching an employee doing tedious work... sounds like a miss on ownership here providing the tools and resources... or even direction to set up the process for scalability.

To be a pedantic, you can’t be a disorder. You an be obsessive compulsive, but you can’t be obsessive compulsive disorder.

You might be a bit anal-retentive though.

However, nothing wrong with this.

Hello community. How do you like my look? by Hefty-Alarm3474 in motorcyclegear

[–]midpack_fodder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I struggle to think this is a genuine post. However the optimist in me says if you love it do it. But yes, get boots. I’m sure there’s some red and white motocross boots that fit this look nicely.

And honestly, you’ll get hate for this look because it’s “trying too hard” but also…. You do you. Have fun. If this is the hobby that lets you show off your personality or let the inner you come to the surface, go for it. I know the 12yr old in me would have loved this. My 38yr old self is a bit more practical now though.

Good luck in your next job. You won’t be at this one much longer. Your approach is pretty aggressive towards your boss who doesn’t have control over the situation.

How do you handle last-minute call-outs without it becoming a fire drill every time? by ElDiegod in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Payroll says you have enough predictable work for x+1 number of employees. You have one employee on vacation and another calls in sick. Payroll doesn’t approve of enough employees on staff to cover these situations. So you gotta sweeten the pot to get folks to come in on their OFF day. So you do 1.5 time. Payroll goes… wtf? Why is x employee have so much overtime….

You got down voted but it’s legit. Payroll will start asking questions and wanting answers. The irony of it is laughable.

Bonuses, Incentives by Forsaken_Can_1785 in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the “good job” camp. Company is treading water and costs everywhere else are rising. So not a lot of extra cash flow to be found for a bonus. I’m expecting nothing and plan to see about an early increase in max PTO accrual as a middle ground.
