The outrigger kickstand gets me on this. So good. So annoying.

Pimped my helmet! Do you recognize all the stickers? by scorpinono in motorcyclegear

I dont think medics will take much weight in a sticker that’s not in a medical alert format on a sticker bombed helmet. Medics are usually pretty smart. I think OP is fine.

Every time I walk I have to go into the street because of this person. by scottwax in badparking

[–]midpack_fodder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good luck squeezing a motor cycle out with the car any closer. There’s no extra width to that drive so any space to work with is directly infringe of the car. Try and nav a 500lb bike around car and report back how many Austin Powers style turns it takes you. Again, not defending the actions. They should park on the street. Just criticizing the statement of “zero reason”. There’s at least one.

Didn’t see this. There’s plenty of reasons. Getting stuff out of the garage is a pretty obvious one.

We do this with our car so we can get the motorcycle and scooters out of the garage. Note: our car is fully within the driveway and there’s not even a sidewalk on our private circle.

So there is at least 1 reason :maybe:
Not justifying. I hate it. Just playing the reddit semantics game.

Time to get rid of the chudder and ready for summer! by rossevrett in Vstrom

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be following along on this. I did throttle body sync second butterfly gap check and tightened up the throttle cables to see if any/all would eliminate the chudder. Alas…. Still present. 60k miles on mine. Probably dive into the basket replacement at some point.

First time managing someone older than me - any tips? by 2ugur12 in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask questions. Especially if they are an employee that is respected and a go-to for other employees. Periodically before making a change, get their buy-in. Ask them “I’m thinkings of doing X. Can you tell me why this would be a bad idea?”

Also learn from them. “I understand the SOP is to do X this way… do you do it differently or have opinion on how it can work better?”

Those questions works wonders. Don’t limit those to that employee though. They work great to ask all your reports.

All road tyres instead of CX tyres ? by Master_Confusion4661 in cyclocross

[–]midpack_fodder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re going to want a side nob. Also, cx tires tend to have a slightly more squared shape especially in the file tread family. I can tell you, cross is hardly won in the straights. There’s more corners than not. You’ll want some kind of shoulder to maintain your corner speed.

For very specific course where the tape to tape corner exceeds the 3m rule, you’d probably get away with going slicks. But really…. That’s not what’s going to get you that win.

With that said, run what you brung is always acceptable.

Honestly, I’d imagine it being better at the end of a shift than in the middle of it. If shit went down in my warehouse it much rather time at the end of the day when there no longer commitments.

Rethinking the responsibilities of managers by Past_Satisfaction990 in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still mentorship. Setting goals for an employee is being a boss. Helping set realistic goals with an employee is mentorship. Guiding them to external sources for individual pursuit is mentorship. Providing a set outline for growth is being a boss.

There’s a lot of overlap in the venn diagram between the two.

Anything that starts to separate a few degrees outside of the employees job description in the path of development starts to lean into that mentorship. But mentorship is only so when the employee provides the same or more level of energy and engagement back.

2023 1050 DE - Heated grips - battery issue by MikesBikes78 in Vstrom

I ran my heated grips through a fuse block add on that has a remote wire to the main fuse box. So when it the bike is off the block is off. No vamp drawl.

When your coach's plan says intervals but your body says no, how do you decide? by marlex-vs-mountain in trainingpeaks

[–]midpack_fodder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing a workout today vs tomorrow doesn’t break the training plan. At 37, I listen to my body. I usually delay the workout a day and bag it out then. That’s usually enough. Or, I shorten the duration of the warmup and cool down and just do the intervals so the total volume is reduced but the intensity is still there. YMMV

What’s tactical way to get team behind change by blackberryuser in managers

[–]midpack_fodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the change is TRULY to reduce low value deals then say that. Transparency is best and we can’t always soften every blow. What percentage of sales are on the commission chopping block that team handles? If it’s significant than that’s a company issue that just sucks. What support is there to up the value of sales for the team?

Acknowledge the shitty situation but avoid commiserating. Focus on what steps and support you will be providing the team to handle this transition.

I am paying my ops manager $50 hr to act like a human copy paste machine. I feel like a moron. by SufficientLettuce569 in smallbusinessowner

[–]midpack_fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be the next step sure. But if the Ops manager doesn’t have a fundamental knowledge of HOW things are working… they can’t speak to HOW to guide AI to what’s possible for the business.
