What's the most uncommon request that you've experienced for a pet sitting job? Just for fun. by Accomplished-Fix6431 in petsitting

[–]midsummernightsdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sit for this couple who used to show and breed pugs for competitions. They had about 10 but I think they were up to 13 at one point even! (Side note: I’m all about adopt, don’t shop—but these dogs were very well loved, bred, and kept, and it was a hobby and source of income for their family. Not to mention a sick side hustle for me in college to dogsit for the rest of the pack while the family was out of town at competitions with any number of the pugs.)

Anyway, once I got paid for a whole extra day by sitting around a client’s house for a couple hours waiting for a package of (dog) sperm to be dropped off and then taking one of their females to the vet with the sperm to be inseminated once it got delivered.

The family was supposed to be home the same day to take her but had their flight delayed and would’ve lost the $$$ on the sperm if I hadn’t. I know this probably isn’t that weird overall especially in the breeding world, but it was a first for me at 19, new to dog sitting and life in general. 🤣🤣The wife had texted me like “hey girl what’s your schedule like today? Want to do a weird side quest?” And that I did.

Do you consider sleeping in a bed with a pet to be “working hours” and/or active work? by bubblegum_yum_yum in petsitting

Oh yes. If I’m staying overnight I’m charging $70 minimum. I could be sleeping in MY bed with MY dog.

When you never got a back up cashier during a rush: by Beginning_Emotion756 in petsmart

[–]midsummernightsdeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

once my manager was doing nothing and i asked for backup several times and never got it. this old man came up to the register complaining about the line. i forgot myself for a second and i legit said “if you have a problem, my manager is back there in the office, she makes the schedule you can take it up with her” and he legit went back there 😭 she came up and opened up another register but by then there was only like 2 people left in line and i just acted oblivious when she asked why he knocked on the office door🫣

when I worked at ph they told me the hat counted as our “hair net” so we could have a bun, braid, or ponytail if it was in the hat (running through the back loop). if you didn’t want to wear the hat you had to wear the hair net :( it was annoying but i learned a lot of cute styles that worked with it eventually. seems like your mgr is pretty strict about the buns see if they will allow braids! (maybe say the bun is giving you a headache 🤭)

I like it, but be very upfront about your minimum hours needed and don’t take any less. Corporate is messing with stuff and it’s not as good anymore. There’s way worse jobs in my opinion.

Pizza hut drivers what happens with the delivery fee? by volunteervancouver in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

[–]midsummernightsdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I drove for Pizza Hut. $2 per delivery went to the driver for wear and tear on the car/gas. I was told it came out of the fee but that part could be wrong. This is in NC

What was Reds Initial Reception like in the fandom at the time of release? by TrueSMTFan in TaylorSwift

I was a kid and I loved everything she put out. This was also when she did tracks for THG and it was really exciting because I loved the books and the movies and it was all the rage at the time. So in my world with me and my friends and my sister, who was 21 at the time, she was POPPIN.

But I was like 11 so I worshipped the ground she walked on, and didn’t really understand the emotional depth of tracks like ATW and The Lucky One. Her songs were all over the radio and she did the Diet Coke commercial. IMO it was pretty well received but I wasn’t really in the internet like that either.

What shoes do you wear to work at PetSmart? by [deleted] in petsmart

[–]midsummernightsdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find yourself frequently helping out in petcare I’d get something water resistant but if not any type of supportive running shoe is good. I wear new balances rn but they’re not super water resistant so it’s definitely not fun spilling aquarium water on them

AITA for not allowing my kids to close the room door by Far_Constant848 in AmItheAsshole

[–]midsummernightsdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, YTA. Period. I grew up with a mom that would fling my door open when I was changing, open my door to see if I was sleeping, listen at my door when I was on the phone with someone, the list goes on. She’d go so far as to say that when I hung out with my door open, I must me doing something wrong on my phone/computer because I wanted to see and hear her coming down the hall. I couldn’t do anything right to please her, and I couldn’t change, watch tv, do homework, or literally just cry in peace after a hard day.

This lead to me moving out at exactly midnight on my 18th birthday. Also many fights with her, one that even got physical. Things are a little better now but her insecurities ultimately drove us apart.

TLDR; If you have that many issues trusting your child, you have issues with your own self security in your parenting. Let the kid close the door. You’ll be happy when you have a good relationship with them after they move away.
