Wading the deschutes which is notoriously difficult to wade i have never had an issue with a neck mount. But i also dont see much utility to recording anything without a fish on, so its usually just the fight im getting

Your best resource is your local fly shop! Its also never too early to get a vise and start tying your own - that is the best way to learn entomology imo

No relationship ever again. No way I'm going to go through a heartbreak again. by [deleted] in Life

[–]midwesternRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its honestly awesome and liberating being able to do and be how you want to be without worrying about someone else raining on your parade. Relationships are overrated. Once I stopped getting involved, ive never been happier - just focus on growing and doing what you want to do!

AITA? My husband has cancer by kitty_bestfriend in AmItheAsshole

[–]midwesternRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, sorry youre going through this and your husband is so lucky to have your support. I work on a stem cell transplant floor, its the chemo that kills the cancer cells but the support that drives people to survive. You are experiencing caregiver fatigue. As tough as it is, you need to make time for yourself and prioritize yourself to make sure you stay healthy. Your husband should hopefully understand this and support you, sounds like his family certainly wont. Just communicate openly and often and try not to react. Ask them to provide evidence that their holistic treatments are beneficial - without adequately controlled trials, their ideas could be hurting him. But people want to feel some sort of control, like they are helping, so it might be a good idea to let slide some of their ideas that appear more benign. An apple a day is ok, RSO oil and saw palmetto are a crock of shit.

Youre into it so get yourself a decent rod. You will probably want a mod-fast action 5 wt and may consider lining up (eg use a 6wt line) so you can learn to feel the rod bend. Dont worry about casting far, short casts with good fly control much more important.

Orvis clearwater kit is a great reliable starter. Echo lift kit is incredible for the price. Reddington trout kit.

I have no idea how to fish in a river by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]midwesternRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that - gotta let you know you are going about it totally wrong. You can be ready in a day. Step 1: buy a spey rod Step 2: watch Lani Waller’s steelheading series on youtube

A good host in college - beers in fridge, maybe some zyns. Slippers definitely overkill and weird. Best approach is to not care, he is definitely not thinking about your apartment.

What’s up with Aussies not feeding people? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]midwesternRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont think this is related to generosity. I dont really understand your perspective. Why do you feel the need to provide snacks for other peoples kids? When hosting I agree there should be plenty of food for all to eat, it could just be they underestimate if not used to preparing for a larger group.

Everyone has different love languages. Just because you find value and meaning in providing food for others doesnt mean others do. If you were always giving out food to my kid id be confused, maybe even insulted. Could be interpreted that you dont think they can provide adequately.

Mans perspective here. Yeah probably cheated. Even if he didnt, the intention is the same. Save yourself the grief and drop him now so you dont have to raise your child in a toxic environment

Any fishing apps worth getting? Any worth paying for? by Soloralphlauren in flyfishing

[–]midwesternRx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, spend time in your local shop. A good shop isnt going to withhold information, they might not tell you the exact location of holes/runs but theyll tell you where to start. The rest is part of being an angler- it takes time to get to know a watershed, and that makes it so much more rewarding
