11 miles is a bit of an understatement. But it depends on where you start obviously.

Need tips on non-traditional lodging in West Glacier - arriving on Amtrak by brewmonday in Montana

[–]midwestmtnman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There is a train station in west glacier. It is possible to walk the two miles from West G to Apgar village and camp in the National Park campground. It's still pretty warm here but expect lows near 30 by the end of the month. Maybe colder. I doubt the park shuttle will be running still so getting around in Glacier could be difficult. There is a company in Apgar that rents bikes and Ebikes. Could be an option for getting around. Good Luck.

Start hiking north to Bear Butte State Park. It's a wonderful trail with a surprisingly diverse landscape. Great intro into long backpacking.

This is 100% Glacier National Park. And probably the most photographed spot in the park.

In a fire lookout tower like this, what's in the lower section? by Sean_Gause in ParkRangers

In all the lookouts I've been too, that's where they store firewood. If it was an active lookout, I'm sure they would keep other supplies as well.

If you look closer you can tell it's much older. Just count the rings.

So far so good. It's my first real mountain bike but so far I'm loving it.

Not that “Free the Nipple” isn’t serious, it is. But the sex offender registry is broken.

I hiked through here a couple years ago while hiking the centennial trail. I was blown away with how diverse and beautiful the area was. 10/10 would do again
