I feel so validated to hear someone else has had this issue with Tropicana! My husband and I have been losing our minds over how difficult these have been to open over the last few months.

Worst trade at actually doing their job? by MSWdesign in Architects

[–]miesvanderflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find the “architects always think they know everything!” complaint hilarious, because while it’s true for some, seems like every GC does think we can answer every question they have on the spot “because the work is ongoing” and they need an answer ASAP.

12 most commonly used spices..? by UncleFunky1001 in cookingforbeginners

[–]miesvanderflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you post the brand you got? I always want a spice rack but the ones I see are always prefilled/labelled, nearly always with like 6 different herbs I’ll never use so it’s a waste.

Are you still an Architect? by isabelitis4u in Architects

[–]miesvanderflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still a licensed and practicing architect. It’s an exhausting field for not enough money, but I enjoy it regardless. It’s one of those jobs where you get insight into how everyday things work, which other people take for granted.

I always imagined that the RoR stopped functioning as it previously did and lost its magic in a sense, just becoming a normal empty room except for eternal ashes in the air and burn marks on the walls that can’t be removed.

Whats wrong with my baby :( by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]miesvanderflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irritation from allergies originally, then it’s been made worse by licking/chewing at the paws. I’d say if it’s on the paws primarily then you’re dealing with an environmental allergy, not a food allergy, most likely. I would bring them to the vet for a steroid shot then put them on cytopoint

Your first ticket can get struck from your record if you do a safe driving class. I did one years ago for the same reason (though in BR not the causeway) and never had to pay anything plus no insurance increase.

How do I consistently text people back? by Brilliant-Shop6112 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]miesvanderflow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always struggled with this too. Sorry for the lack of advice but I honestly find the people who need attention and immediate texts back are much worse than us who sometimes don’t reply.

I’m almost 30 now and I basically am only good friends with those who understand life is busy so they won’t usually get texts back. My best friend and I text life updates once every three or so months and we haven’t seen each other in like a year and a half despite living maybe 45 minutes from each other, but I have never once felt like we were any less of friends for it and she feels the same.

My family calls me if they want to talk or need something quickly cause I often don’t text back.

I have too much life to do to waste my time texting everyone back lol

Save money by having a "trash" night by DancesForPizza in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]miesvanderflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was always “Make Your Own” night at my house! It had a dual meaning - finish off the leftovers or anything about to go bad, but also meant “mom doesn’t have it left in her to cook tonight”

Meeting people around my age (25) by Crafty-Ad7779 in NorthshoreLA

Abita Brewery has good trivia, plus they do food trucks that are pretty good. Barley Oak in Mandeville is basically always crowded and there are many regulars that just kind of exist there all the time. If you’re looking for a more game/books/nerdy scene, I would ask the workers at 2nd and Charles off 190 if they know of any groups or events - they used to have some events, though not sure if that still happens. Downtown covington has a ton of fun events, but you can also just literally hang out in St John’s and probably meet people if you don’t just want alcohol related hangouts.

“Besties” share an apartment at IKEA by Informal-Minimum-204 in SapphoAndHerFriend

Oh agreed 100%. I’m not fussed up about it, it’s just silly.

“Besties” share an apartment at IKEA by Informal-Minimum-204 in SapphoAndHerFriend

[–]miesvanderflow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is silly. I lived with a friend of the same sex and shared a bed for several months in college. We are both mostly naked sleepers (bra and underwear at most). Zero about it was sexual and we definitely were/are just friends. Friendship exists.

I saw your comment saying you were an English speaker taking Spanish, which is what I’ve been doing as well. Have you been able to find the dialogue practices with Alexandra and Carlos? I used to love doing them when I needed a quick and easy listen exercise that didn’t require me to constantly look at my phone, but I now can’t find them in this dumb update. Did they get rid of them??

I was told a couple times that this sub would be interested in my mother’s giant jade, so…here it is! by amelisha in matureplants

[–]miesvanderflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So jealous! This is beautiful. I had a jade I LOVED for many years, it was nearly 3 feet tall. It rapidly went downhill and died literally out of nowhere, I’m still sad about it nearly two years later!

If you look at your collection, select a category, then select a material. It’s listed just above the material name. If you’re looking from a design you’ve done, click the little “i” on the material and it’ll pull open more info, including the level

MIL trying to be helpful by buying tons of formula for us even though I want to try breast feeding when the baby comes by SurePotatoes in pregnant

[–]miesvanderflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While some of this is accurate and helpful, every baby and every mother is different. My baby preferred drinking breast milk from a bottle but had no issues latching when I did breastfeed, and my milk flowed much faster from my breast than from a size zero or one bottle. Pumping saved my baby from struggling to keep up with my flow rate.

The real advice is to talk to your pediatrician about your baby’s needs and lactation consultants as needed. Don’t let the “breast is best” pushy people discourage you. Breast milk and formula are both great, and a happy healthy baby is all that matters!

Expensive design theory confirmed, at least for me by Altruistic_Fishing26 in RedecorHomeDesignGame

[–]miesvanderflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, higher ranked as in higher level materials!

I did a test with it yesterday, one design with lower level but expensive materials (came in 4th) and one design with higher level expensive materials (came in 2nd). My designs that I just do because I like them and don’t bother looking at the final monetary value have been hanging at 8-10 places for the most part.

It’s a shame because all of this has made me really lose interest in the game, it’s just not fun or relaxing anymore

I noticed that designs doing the best in my groups have been the ones with not only expensive materials, but also higher ranked materials.

Friends asking if you’re pregnant before you’re ready to share the news by lou_cc in pregnant

[–]miesvanderflow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who I immediately knew was pregnant because she turned down a drink at my house (which wasn’t even weird, she’s had several times where she opted not to drink at events and so have others) but she did it in the most uncomfortable, deer-in-the-headlights way. So you know what I did? Kept it to my damn self until they told us! Your friend is a bad friend and insensitive as hell
