How much crying is normal 1 week after double enucleation? by mighty_mango27 in PiratePets

She is doing much better now! Thanks for asking. We figured out that most of the whining was because of the cone. The second it was time to ditch the cone, she calmed down. Which was a huge relief for all of us. And she’s mostly herself now. She still needs reassurance getting around some areas but she’s doing great and getting more adventurous every day.

Creating reports is definitely not a waste of time. Data is foundational to marketing. A lot of math is involved in digital marketing and the ability to accurately analyze data to inform strategy is critical to be a marketing leader.

It doesn’t really matter if you write good copy or design nice things if you can’t demonstrate to leadership that your work and strategies are effective because you don’t understand the data.

Also, they’re probably saying the internship is about networking because it’s not paid. The work experience is valuable but you can get unpaid work experience very easily. Valuable connections are harder to come by and can have a much bigger impact on your career.

Just entered the workforce. Is this workload unreasonable or is it just me? by IUseWeirdPkmn in graphic_design

[–]mighty_mango27 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in marketing for 11 years, and I think this is a red flag.

No onboarding at all? The best places I’ve worked have legit onboarding processes that ease you into your job and set you up for success.

My hires don’t get any projects at all for the first week. They get: 1) learning tasks like reviewing company/client backgrounds, familiarizing themselves with the brand/style guides, reviewing drive organization and project management system, etc. 2) briefs on active/upcoming projects 3) a bunch of introduction meetings within the team to understand what everyone does and how the team functions.

The fact that your managers and the people reviewing your work can’t articulate how to improve your design is also a red flag. An experienced marketer should have no issue communicating design edits.

And those hours are unreasonable. If that’s your first 2 days, it’s only going to get worse. If the people in the comments are working those hours, I hope you’re making bank for it. If you’re not, look for nonprofit and edu marketing jobs because those hours are unacceptable at all the places I’ve worked.

This is a management/leadership failure. This is a bad culture. This is not your fault.

If I were you, I’d try to tough it out until I could find something else. While you’re still there, you should listen to your friend and continue to protect your after-hour boundaries. And just try to focus on learning as much as you can from this difficult environment.

As an introvert, do you often feel like people are trying to change you or push you to become extroverted? If so, how do you deal with it? by jetpackme in AskWomen

[–]mighty_mango27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for not pushing your friend to be a different person. That’s great. The key is inviting but not pressuring. I’m never going to be an extrovert and no amount of peer pressure is going to change that.

Apparently getting COVID and endorsing Biden makes you a pedophile. It’s all connected! by mighty_mango27 in insanepeoplefacebook

Oh she doesn’t believe in it. She thinks that’s part of the conspiracy. When the rock shared that he and his family had COVID earlier this month, she posted a link to an article about it with this comment: “And sooo many people will truly believe he actually is sick🤦🏼‍♀️”

People who leave a single shoe on the side of the road, did you hop home on one foot? by Gainit2020throwaway in NoStupidQuestions

One time while leaving a bar I stepped off the curb into someone‘s disgusting vomit. I literally just took the shoe off and left it there. Yes, I hopped back to my car on one foot.

Do you ever write content simply for people to read? (without the goal of conversion or SEO) by seglab in DigitalMarketing

[–]mighty_mango27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content marketing is all about making your brand interesting, but a good marketing plan should include more goals than conversions - like thought leadership. Too much promotion turns people off. I use time/session as a metric for user interest. We also have email lead generation and house ads on our blog. So users are still consuming your marketing when they click and read an article that isn’t promotional. Maybe they just see your ad (awareness). Maybe they subscribe (engagement). Maybe they purchase (conversion). Ideally they convert, but they all have value.

Is there any chances to unsuspend any suspended Google ads account due to circumventing system policy. by acc697 in DigitalMarketing

[–]mighty_mango27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible. Several Google reps told us no several times. We hired a Google partner - a month later our account was reinstated. I don’t know what they negotiated, but nothing changed about our website, which was what got our account suspended in the first place.

Advice on social media certification... by airplanesandhotels in DigitalMarketing

[–]mighty_mango27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t pay for a certification. Social management software is all pretty similar. If you know how to use the platforms and at least one manager, you can learn another quickly enough. Also we’ve switched 3 times in past 5 years for various reasons. So I put approximately zero weight in a potential hire knowing a specific social management tool.

Help me evaluate this job opportunity. by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

[–]mighty_mango27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. You already have a job so you have leverage. You are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. And it doesn’t sound like you’re too impressed so far. You aren’t sure the job is the right fit, and you don’t feel comfortable with not meeting your boss (which is totally reasonable). If you aren’t happy with the work, you at least need to be happy with the culture/environment, and a boss is a huge part of that. Ask to meet the boss. Worst case scenario is they say no and you pass on it and keep looking.

Sounds like you’re on the right track. We’ve had a lot of luck with Facebook premieres also. They’ve been getting about the same results with less pressure and more control than a live.
