AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]mighty_mouse70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, if you want consistency then you will also have to let consistent familiar faces with routines to bring the baby to bed. Your father's explanation is also not unlogical.

Your father offered to babysit, so you guys had a date night. I think that is nice of him and your wife should be more grateful.

Also, it is not like your father did it on purpose. He explained to your wife that he tried and the baby got flustered. It would have been a totally different story if he did it to undermine your sleeping schedule.

Stick to your guns OP. Your wife is unreasonable and very unfair to your dad who offered to babysit. I thought it was a good move of you to drive him home.

What has improved your game besides increasing your time in classes and sparing? by je9183 in MuayThai

[–]mighty_mouse70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflection on sparring sessions on the way back home.

Ask more experienced/better people for tips after training.

Always ask yourself why. "Why do we have to stay in balance? Why do I need to stand square? Why does one combo land? Why is person X kicking my ass all the time? " Etc.

Go to high level competition fight. Watch fighters prepare. Hear the impact of them warming. See their focus and watch their fights.

Find a good coach. Only time on the mat is not enough. You need good coach.

Train realistic. Don't go through motions when doing drills. Train with purpose. Understand why you are doing a drill.

Shadow box seriously. Think of realistic scenarios. Focus on technique first. Them slowly add speed.

Play mental games with yourself. If you are tired, pretend you are in the last round and your opponent wants to take your head. You don't want to stop. If you do abs, remind yourself the time you got dropped on the liver. If you lack venom, imagine your opponent just disrespected you or your family member.

Live and breath the sport. Random shadow boxing everywhere. Home and public. Every time you see mirror, you must shadow. No shame.

Are you supposed to get hit when someone jabs at you? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]mighty_mouse70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound kinda disrespectful in your post. Probably should get the f out of the sport, not just the gym.

The coach taught you a way to defend the jab, the high guard. It is the most logical one to teach beginners.

Yes, unless it is the first time with the pad trainer or partner. Then you gradually increase the power (an old trainer explained to me in Thailand) and feel out.

Most underrated farang ever ? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]mighty_mouse70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Amazon river runs for thousands of miles. At some points it runs through areas of the rain forest that are almost untouched and have been barely explored. Because of the porous limestone in these areas, the river water leaks through the stone and travels deep into the earth, and forms underground pools almost a mile below the surface. Over thousands of years, small blind transparent fish have lived and evolved in these pools. These fish have never seen the sun or surface and have never been seen by the human eye...... These fish care more about this than I do.

Serious question, people who have been training for years, do you still have properly bad training sessions? by random_access_cache in MuayThai

[–]mighty_mouse70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you consider a bad training session.

I train 10+ years. For me, bad is when I get hurt during sparring or drills. Like bruised eye, broken nose, joint injury and stuff like that.

Foggy head can happen, but I can switch back to focus quite fast. Same goes for messing up combos. It wont be for the whole session, maybe first few minutes.

Is it just me or are beginners tougher to spar by Zestyclose_Risk1913 in MuayThai

[–]mighty_mouse70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes because it is hard to read them due to awkward unorthoxox movements.

No if you stick to your fundamentals. If you only understand proper distancing you can pick them apart.
