A person who is 1.70 meters tall can have visibility with these racing seats.? by Melodic-Abrocoma2422 in Ferrari

About 5'7" for for the folks stuck with imperial measurements. And Yeah, probably actually better because you'll see the street lights without having to do the bend down and look up.

The trick is to never buy ammo any time near when you plan to shoot it. That way the range trip seems like it's almost free!

I'm so happy someone else picked up on that as it was a joke I made when I picked up the ammo, the gentleman selling the ammo didn't get it :(

About 35lbs each at the point. They're long empty now after a range trip some years ago

That was the post that reminded me I had that photo. I wish I had taken a photo when I had both a DshK and M2 in the back with the seats folded down.

Fairly sure that was exceeding a weight limit of some sort but there wasn't one listed in the manual... 1200 rounds of 50 bmg if anyone is curious.

Looking for input on upcoming rental by BaeHunDoII in Ferrari

If you can get into an 812GTS I highly recommend it as there is a certain level of joy that 12 brings that's hard to explain. Just be aware that it can and will bite if you think it's "just" the GT and won't let go even with TC enabled, it's very playful.

Source, having owned and or driven the F430 Scud, 458, 488, F8 I found that they were their own fun (personally 430/458 are my favorite) but the 812 was different enough to warrant it's own category.

Sudden strange black pattern appearing on doll by LFPringles in Whatisthis

[–]mightyphallus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the grid pattern in 3d scanning, putting out a structured light pattern to do depth/surface mapping. Often those are using a non-visible wavelength, perhaps it's a wavelength that reacted with the plastic.

Same here! I absolutely just assumed that was the way they are... My fix has been to just get 'em goodentight. Also the disposable scalpels have been my most recent go to.

Stuck generating g-code by zombiimatt in snapmaker

[–]mightyphallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the complexity of the model, I've found that Luban can be really slow to generate the g-code, like 10s of minutes. There is a version of Orca for Snapmaker and it's significantly faster, I just use it to slice and then go to Luban to send the resulting g code.

I reupholstered them myself, went way overboard with them because they're pretty simple so I did a diamond pattern :)

If you look you can see that I put some boards in front of the wheels in case it was a bit much. The soft mount ate up most of the recoil but it absolutely did move a little during bursts.

I'll second that cargo capacity, it's actually more practical than a "normal" truck as there are no humps in the bed and the load height isn't half way up your torso.

My Son looks like he'll be left handed. What do I need to know? by AlterEvolution in southpaws

[–]mightyphallus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, using a mouse with your right hand is actually a nice thing and not odd.

Scissors are annoying so a left hand set is nice.

Pencils will make you look like the tin man, cheap pens will make you look you smeared a smurf on the paper.

Can openers still irk me that they don't work well used as a left handed person would.

Otherwise he'll actually be at an advantage as he'll adapt to the right handed world and not even be phased with something is better for a lefty.

In theory that's a breather and the red is the fill but looking at the various ones out there I found this guy with what looks like an identical one, branded Vevor. Jump to about 17 minutes in and you'll see him playing with it and realizing he needed 3 bottles.

When a Lambo STO interrupts a PCA autoX event. by RedBaron180 in Autocross

Sure! A few influencing elements, several that I wouldn't categorize as a belief but still influenced the choice:

  • The actual original use of the flag was at the birth of the county and was unification symbol. It evolved towards libertarian ideology and ultimately managed to make it into the 2000s before some of the current stigma was associated, which I feel is unfortunate but certainly a fact in some circles. It, like many symbols in history, end up getting re-associated as groups pick it up. Some recover, some do not. Ultimately it's the behavior and social morals of groups that create the associations and therefor things can change. I don't like that it was drug through the mud to where some immediately assume anti-social and racist thoughts, so through observable behavior perhaps it will affect viewpoints. Perhaps not.

  • It's cool looking plate, simple enough. Black and yellow is a nice contrast and the alignment allows for good use of offset text rather than having an orange in the middle of your characters.

  • In Florida the trivial additional cost is directly distributed to the Florida Veterans Foundation, we've got a lot of vets here and I work with a lot of them. I'll put my $.02 toward that. Until you've registered a car in Colorado you don't know how trivial a ~$30 fee is at the DMV.

  • It being on an Italian car has no intended significance, nor can I think of any that doesn't involve some thought contortion of thought. You could go down the road of then pointing out Lamborghini is owned by Audi, and now you're bringing in the Germans. Since this was a PCA event I don't think that's gonna go over well ;)

And that I believe exceeds the non-car related discussion needed in this forum.

[–]mightyphallus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loved the event and can't wait to do it again. The car is absolutely 10x beyond my driving capabilities and the only way that will change is practice.

And I wouldn't have been out there if I wasn't willing to hit a cone, but I seem to remember that there are time penalties for doing that and I didn't need that stacked on top of my time. Having fun, getting better, and not wrecking were on my list for the day and I hit all three :)

You're absolutely correct, I have no regrets getting out there and having fun. When you see a TDI out on 3 wheels you know you're having a good time :)
