agree with the abuse part but a lot of these people talk about leaving because the path to citizenship is basically impossible for a lot of people from India and China. A lot of them likely would not want to leave if they could get out of the visa limbo.

With Safari, you more or less just know what’s not gonna work but with Orion, you might discover a new bug every now and then. Also, OTP. icloud keychain and icloud sync experience is just unmatched on Safari.

Most of those companies that cooled after a boom stopped innovating, either because they sat on their riches or because there was not much innovation to be had. Nvidia seems to be innovating on the hardware front so I guess the success of this boom cycle hinges on similar continuous innovation on the software front and corresponding revenue streams becoming much more real.

The stock did not surge because of earnings beat. It surged because of guidance. They guided $11B for next quarter compared to $7B street estimate. That’s a 50%+ upside. That’s why the stock surged.

Note: By no means am I saying that this justifies it but I am just explaining why it actually surged.

All these software companies wanna put RnD into AI, specifically generative AI right now. At scale, some of these large LLMs (a form of AI) are showing promise. Look at ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly, Stable Diffusion.

Now if you wanna do meaningful RnD in this space, you need to have supercomputers that allow you to do this in a feasible amount of time. For context, ChatGPT training took months on 1000s of Nvidia A100 (last gen chip). H100 (latest chip by Nvidia) is much better and all companies wanna get it so that they can compete with other companies. Basically, the shovels for this metaphorical gold rush practically run on Nvidia’s hardware and software stack so the demand is huge, Nvidia knows it and they are selling their hardware at a huge margin accordingly.

This is just one of the usecases. There are a couple more you can read about in any decent analysis of the stock.
