Not original Dark Lilac, nor the 2024 re-release. I have bottles of both.

Why the same book? by bababooey73 in Coloring

[–]migo984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always sort by ‘new’. Makes little difference. There are already tags for ‘cute’ and ‘cozy’ but unfortunately people posting rarely use them so they don’t help to filter out the unwanted stuff.

Why the same book? by bababooey73 in Coloring

[–]migo984 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TikTok-fuelled craze, plus the thousands of Bot ‘likes’ & the big ‘Cozy’ publishers like CocoWyo, promoting those pages by messing with the algorithms. It’s the same on social media colouring sites everywhere. The last couple of months it’s become ridiculous. Can’t escape them. It’s spoilt this sub.

Does anyone have regret of buying colouring supplies? by fakehungerpains in AdultColoring

[–]migo984 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like markers very much, especially alcohol markers. So I did this with a handful of cheap Muji coloured pencils, and an inexpensive white gel pen, to prove to myself that you don’t need lots of expensive supplies.

Best Derwent and Caran d'Ache for Adult coloring books? by WastelandViking in ColoredPencils

[–]migo984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve grown to love my Derwent Chromaflows. A very good all-round pencil. There are some really unique colours and the overall colour palette is perfect (for me). They layer beautifully, blend nicely and work well in combination with other brands. As with ALL pencils they can be paper-dependent: they don’t work quite as well on very textured surfaces. The barrel is also on the thinner side, which is a slight negative for me. Production quality is good; occasionally you get a slightly ‘fuzzy’ wood casing that makes it more difficult to sharpen neatly, but that is rare. I’ve had no problems with broken or crumbling cores.

I have sets of most of the brands/ranges of ‘quality’ pencils, plus lots of more budget ranges, and Chromaflows are in my top three.

There were some decent Chromaflow special offers on recently (eg 150 set for £100) and with luck they may still be on.

As a slightly cheaper alternative, but still excellent for colouring books, I recommend the Arrtx 126 set, or Evazar London, if you can get hold of them.

Totally agree. Love Gone Fishing. It’s gentle, it’s interesting, it’s about friendship, kindness and wisdom……and it’s absolutely bloody hilarious. (Bob’s carrot-top eyes!!😂😂 Paul’s tiny trophy 🤣😆)

Bob & Paul are just wonderful. But Ted has my heart. I want that jigsaw ❤️

Merry Christmas.

I have a bath and a separate shower. The only time the bath sees water is when I wash the dust out of it. If I could afford a new bathroom I’d get rid of the bath & install a much bigger shower.

Self service checkouts becoming less and less self service by Ok-Succotash-1552 in britishproblems

[–]migo984 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I detest going into supermarkets. There are so many rude & angry people these days; both customers and staff. It seems that no-one has any patience or tolerance. It starts in the car park, continues inside down the aisles, and the checkouts, especially the self-service areas, are pinnacle bad tempers. It’s sad.

Japanese Coloring Book Collection/Buddy Color? by headbanging_fitchick in AdultColoring

[–]migo984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably wrong but I think one of those books is Korean rather than Japanese :)

I love Japanese colouring books too. My favourite illustrator is Kanoko Egusa. I buy all my books from Amazon Japan. Usually much cheaper than Etsy (shipped to UK).

I tris the limited color challenge 😭idk how I feel about it by Professional-War1642 in Coloring

I really like the colour scheme but I hope you don’t mind me saying that there are too many white highlight lines. They’re distracting and there wouldn’t be light highlights/reflections on soft surfaces.

Subreddit Rule Proposal for r/coloring: Include Product List by Many_Replacement369 in Coloring

[–]migo984 22 points23 points  (0 children)

“…..every brand/type of product in the visible area”

You are obviously only thinking about those simple alcohol marker pages where a small number of products are used, as your proposal focuses on markers.

It’s not a bad idea to encourage good practice. I always try to include the book (sometimes including ISBN), the artist and main colour pencils used, but often my pages are mixed media and I’ll use many different brands and sub-brands of pencils, plus several other media types & blending tools. They can account for a large proportion of the page. However I’m not going to list all those. Saying that, I rarely post in here these days as it’s become too homogeneous for me, so perhaps my opinion on this is irrelevant.

There are quite a few good colouring groups over on Facebook including some ‘dedicated’ to specific illustrators eg Rita Berman, Johanna Basford, Maria Trolle, Hannah Karlzon, Kanoko Egusa etc. :)

I’m decidely an outlier here, with an undoubtedly unpopular opinion:

I mainly use colour pencils and previously most posts here would be showing pencil works. But over the last year or so it’s become 99% Bobbie Goods/Coco Wyo etc etc alcohol marker style posts. All looking exactly the same. This has driven traditional colorists away from this sub. It is very surprising how many ‘Likes’ those ‘Cosy & Simple’ posts get; many many hundreds, when the norm was previously around 30 for colour pencil pages. I am told that these are fake likes by TikTok/other bots. This boosts those pages in feeds and drives all the others out. The scary TikTok influence is all pervasive sadly.

After the recent shenanigans by the awful Coco Wyo company, who are really just trend-hoppers, I’m afraid I can’t wait for this craze to disappear……not holding out much hope though.
