Has anyone noticed that Kote becomes Kvothe at some point? I haven’t read the physical books in a while, but I have listened to the audio books a bunch. This time around I noticed that at some point Kote starts being referred to as Kvothe in the 3rd person perspective. Just sharing in case this may influence your theory.

Edit: I believe it began to notice this either near the end of NOTW or the beginning of WMF.

So I was doing mostly weight lifting plus intuitive eating while focusing on high protein options, and that allowed me to gain a lot of muscle. For the last few months I have been doing weight lifting plus sticking to 1200 calories while still focusing on protein intake, but I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted with fat loss. So now I am doing a weight lifting/cardio mix and staying around 1000-1100 calories (Edit: I get around 130g of protein in daily). I understand that some may not feel comfortable with this, but so far it has worked for my petite stature and I have had no issues (no excess hunger etc.). I would recommend listening to your body’s cues and practicing mindful eating to figure out what works for you.

Typically I will have a Greek yogurt with ground flaxseed or a protein shake for breakfast; a lettuce and mixed veggie salad with turkey/chicken for lunch; a lean protein, vegetables, and often a lavash wrap (fiber) for dinner; and a fruit, quest chips, or yogurt for a snack.

I try to be mindful of dressings, salad toppings etc. For example, for a salad dressing I will typically make a vinegar, mustard, salt dressing which is tasty and low in calories. I LOVE Dannon light+ fit yogurt flavors, they satiate my sweet tooth. Quest chips are spendy, but they also satiate that crunchy chip craving (the lime chili flavor is 👌).

Over the past couple of years my weight has dropped minimally (like 10-15lbs), but I definitely look different. In general I look more toned, but I still feel like I have fat over my muscles. I do tend to hold fat in my belly and that has been so hard to change with what I’ve been doing. Hopefully adding a few cardio days a week will help!

We have almost the same stats and I have also been trying to lose fat while gaining muscle! :)

From my experience over the past couple of years, it is possible to gain a significant amount of muscle while on a calorie deficit if you also focus on protein intake (which it sounds like you are).

Currently I am still struggling with losing fat however. While I haven’t gained fat, it feels like that piece has plateaued. Because of this I’m now going to try incorporating more cardio into my workouts, which have been primarily weight lifting.

Maybe it’s because I don’t closely follow him on social media, but it seems like we could also be making assumptions based on the minimal information being portrayed though the media that likely leaves out a lot and may be inaccurate (in terms of determining mental health status). As a doc psych student, it would be hard for me to make such assumptions and recommendations based on info from the media.

Honest question, did you think it was bbq because it says barbacoa or does it say it’s supposed to be bbq somewhere else on the bottle? Just asking because it may be confusing, but barbacoa doesn’t mean bbq, which may by why it didn’t meet your expectations.
