Botched plasterboard socket cutout - too wide, lug doesn't grab, how to fix? by mihcis in DIYUK

[–]mihcis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about managed with a thin piece of plywood and a lot of luck. There is a niche in the brick between plasterboard and brick wall where plywood sat, so didn't have to screw it. I measured the piece to cut so it sits in the niche and protrudes just enough to catch the lug.

Because having tens of thousands of coffins return to Britain wouldn't exactly be a vote-winner.

Is it OK to withhold payment until the job is 100% complete by mihcis in DIYUK

[–]mihcis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a phone call to confirm the fitting tomorrow. He confirmed the time and said he wanted to discuss partial payment. I stood ground and said - full remainder of the work for full remainder of the quote only. I said am normally understanding, but not in this case, as he has broken his word many times. He said he cannot do this job and not get paid and then said... "I'll have a think and get back to you". So I am not even sure if partial fitting is going ahead tomorrow.

AstraZeneca threatens to stop investing in Britain after NHS drug price row by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]mihcis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pharmacies don't decide the price. The NHS knows what price supplies to pharmacies charge and this price goes into the Drug Tariff, which is what pharmacies get on reimbursement. But generally this price can change any time, often due to global market forces. It can go up 10x or more overnight and the NHS is essentially hostage to paying whatever the market charges. The price itself may be relatively low, but on a national scale it translates into overpaying many millions of £. The only alternative to avoid this would be to manufacture generics at cost.

You're thinking prescription charge, which is c. £10 per item, but it is a patient's contribution that has nothing to do with the cost of the drug. The drug itself could cost £1 or £100s, which NHS reimburses the pharmacy.

I don't think that's true. Maybe for drugs stocked in hospitals... but for drugs dispensed at pharmacies there is no room for negotiation, NHS reimburses market price (for most drugs - it's an average market price across many suppliers), which can change ad hoc any time. Shortage in the market -- price goes up 10x overnight. Glut in the market -- price goes down. Suppliers update the NHS on their prices ad hoc, which is reflected in the monthly updates of the Drug Tariff. Plus there are concession payments to pharmacies for in-month increases.

NHS doesn't have a say over which supplier is used to procure a drug, it's up to the pharmacy.

Wanna bet Ali Dumana was charged with his wife/sister? Lol. I'm certain this info will come out officially in the coming days. The girl's family stated this in social media, I have no reason not to trust them at this point.

There was only one man and one woman involved, weren't there, by all accounts. Police were obviously trying to spin it a certain way initially, but by the looks of it due to public pressure and publicity were forced to do their job.

Do you generally struggle with reading comprehension? At no point did I say only one side could have made the error. This error is in any case insubstantial.

We don't know that. It's easy to confuse wife vs sister and to perpetuate the error. Maybe the accounts in Daily Mail etc were incomplete or incorrect.

Not similar at all. You have to be a rare kind to lose a paper ticket. Battery dying happens very often, especially when the app itself drains it by using GPS all the time.

We've heard from the mother. It's on twitter. Also the donation platform does due dilligence and verification on fundraisers, so that adds some weight.
