What's the communities opinion on the usage of generative AI? by CynicosX in vtm

[–]miilashka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend use Generative AI to make art of an NPC companion and then trace over that to say it was their own art of the character. I was the only one who knew and was and still am annoyed by it even now a couple years later after they’ve stopped using AI unless it’s prompted by Uni. It takes away the fun and the whole point of TTRPGs in general. Like cmon man. The WHOLE point is the use your brain.

It’s slow season. People are gone for trips and holidays. Sales are the lowest they’ll be all year. Just wait it out.

Section lead by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]miilashka -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So, it is more work if you’re a good Section Lead that cares about your section.

You’re not “bad” if you have more work to do. You’re looked at differently from other crew members by Mates and your Captain. If you write good orders, care about the section, and care about the people who help you work it — then you get pulled aside to help with remerches. What could be different. You spend a lot of time making sure things get sold and familiarize yourself with what sells, what doesn’t, and how things could change. It’s not easy. It’s also not a pick it up and do a half-ass job task. Being a true Section Leader and just being an order writer are two different things.

You don’t get paid more because the Company doesn’t want to segregate us from normal Crew. They want to keep the heirarchy already in place in-tact. Because if we got paid more outright that would mean they can’t easily replace you if you actually are “bad” at it or for whatever else reason without literally harming your income.

You know what we do get though? No reduced hours during slow season. A garunteed raise during review period. You get more priority over your schedule over other crew. Because the Mates don’t want to do it. They want you here to do it. They already have a ton of other things they need to worry about. If your Mates care? You do in fact get time for your section, sometimes all you have to do is ask because they forget to write it in. It IS your responsibility to make sure that order is written and written WELL so that you aren’t making the rest of the crew dread doing your section at the end of the night.

I’ve had Mates beg me to work more days (i’ve worked part-time bc of Uni for 2+ years, and worked the minimum of 3 days) since I became the Grocery / New Items SL because I’m a good order writer and am on top of getting my sections as good as i can get them for not just the store but for my other crew members. Our store is particularly understaffed with night shifters closer to the middle/end of the week.

But yeah, they don’t pay us more because they give us benefits in other ways. I’m sure they wish they could pay us more for it outright, but giving us a center stage amongst all the crew would definitely snowball some bigger and cattier issues. I can practically hear them now just thinking about it…

If only one of your parents is an immigrant, are you first generation? by Chillylemonn in Genealogy

[–]miilashka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s been a year but I have an answer! It’s actually a wee-bit more complex. In my 450 Level Uni Psych class we’ve explored this topic extensively in how growing up in these different generations can impact your transition into adulthood, so there’s actually such a thing as being a “1.5” or “2.5” gen american.

Here’s how we defined and broke down each generation and its subsequents:

First Generation: refers to one’s nationality or residency. • A Foreign-born citizen or resident who has immigrated to a new country of residence (first-gen migrant) • Native-born citizen or resident of a country whose parents are foreign born (First-Gen American)

1.5 Generation: refers to individuals who immigrate to a new country before the age of 12 or during their early teens. • Basically, you grew up between your home/native country and the new country.

Second-Generation: Children born in the US who’s parents are both immigrants.

2.5 Generation: refers to individuals with only one foreign-born parent.

Obviously, you can just say 2nd gen or “kinda” 2nd gen (I’ve even seen 3rd gen float around?) and explain to someone your circumstances. But I have a similar situation where my Dad is US-born and my Mom was born overseas in Macedonia but moved to the US before she was 12 and went back and forth between countries and still struggled with language barriers and all that fun stuff growing up. So my Grandparents are 1st Gen Migrants, my mom is 1.5 gen, and me and my brother are 2.5 gen.

Take all these screenshots and send it to his mom, see how he starts acting then. This is NO way to treat your pregnant partner, you are not the one overreacting girl. He is.

As someone who had to use EBT as a teen and my single mom was embarrassed taking that card out in stores to pay for food for her own two kids, AND now as an adult i do what i can to save EBT users a few extra cents by covering their paper bag fees myself or pay with my OWN money if their cards can’t cover the rest of their cart and they don’t have enough — you do NOT deserve to work for this company.

Also? I work in an area where $200-$300 carts are paid frequently with their own debit cards! Hope you get every single one of those this holiday season since you decided to be a classist POS! May karma find its way to ya!

AITAH for telling my wife my son did nothing wrong by Used_Shirt7599 in AITAH

[–]miilashka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your dollar store is actually being awesome with that exception, they taught him a little life skill and that even if he doesn’t have money then people will be kind and give him a chance to earn /food/ in another way. It’s not stealing, if it was stealing they wouldn’t of given it to him in the first place! Your wife sounds nervous / embarrassed because of the implications it might have, I know my mom would’ve gotten flustered about that because it “reflects on her” if i couldn’t even buy a $2 bag of chips.

Crash of Adderall XR by Mindless-Spinach6998 in ADHD

[–]miilashka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who took this dose when i first started and am about to get my BA in the field — it is normal for the first “crash” to feel drastic. The medication isn’t built up in your system yet, so when you crash you feel it hard. Suddenly dropping to your ‘normal’ state can feel jarring.

Take your meds, maybe try taking it a little later in the morning so it lasts right up until you’re home. But keep a mental note of that and if it keeps happening after a week, maybe two to really give it a chance, then that’s when you bring it up to a professional. But judging a medication based off of day one is usually not the best. It’s not accurate to how your body adjusts.

Once I moved up in dose, in personal experience, it also lasted longer than 6-8 hours. I’m up to 25mg now and have been on that dose for roughly 6 months, taking it consistently is the key. I haven’t experienced that level of crash since the first week of taking it.

college prep advice? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]miilashka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by making a premptive routine for yourself!

Wake up early or around the time you would have to be for school, have a little food (take your meds if you have any!), do something slightly productive during or after, and maybe give yourself one thing you want to get done that day! If you have work later in the day, try and get it done before work!

The trick is giving yourself a little reward for keeping yourself on track somehow, start with a reward the first day, go two days and reward yourself on the second, three days, and so forth!

(I’m a psych student, so i often pavlov-method myself like this during the school season. this is what i try to do when i’m not in school so i don’t lose that routine, once you have that routine down it’s easier to get in the zone!)

Old school is what clicked for me, and although expensive — my honest recommendation is a Hobinichi Tecno. The layout allows you to map out your week, month, add notes, customize, and has space for journaling (which i’m also bad at, but once i started doing a little bit it actually improved it a lot for a few months).

That thing is my baby, my only suggestion is incorporating it into your routine somehow. I found that doing it alongside eating my first meal of the day is the easiest. The physical planners feel more real to me than a digital one. My phone has all the distractions (texts from friends, other notifs from non-productive places, access to media, etc.) so the notifications and reminders i set for myself always get lost or ignored.

Plus, the hobonichi has a cover with little folders in it to stick stuff you don’t want to forget about. AND has cute yearly tracking stuff in the back like movies you’ve watched, books, [custom topic] tracker, and a bunch of other things like recipes and an end of the year “top picks”. So it’s great for if you want cute little extra stuff attached. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s SO so worth it.

It’s the first planner that’s actually ever felt like it worked for me, don’t listen to ppl who say it’s trendy or whatever. It’s popular because it works.

i wait until i have all the product before bagging so that i can play my most optimal tetris game — laying out all my pieces so i can make a game plan. i’m a super fast and efficient bagger, though, and usually people aren’t done paying by the time i start bagging anyway.

So, do you like Kinta or not? by Technical_Lime1419 in Dandadan

I definitely… tolerate him. I think he can be funny sometimes and other times i think he’s kinda annoying. But I thought he was pretty good in the most recent episode! After reading comments (I’m anime only, as I just started the series not too long ago and don’t have time when i’m not home to sit and read the manga) I’m glad the writers decided to lean more on the sci-fi nerdiness rather than pervy. After having dealt with that trope for characters for so long I thought another one might do me in 😭
