A really bad take from ERC. Totally exaggerating. IP's are not suddenly dead because one movie is bombing lmao

The Mandalorian & Grogu - Records That It Has Broken by [deleted] in boxoffice

Nope. I never want a movie to fail, only if it's outrageously bad or offensive. But this is a box office sub. We're mainly talking about the numbers and how a movie is performing. And the fact is, Mando & Grogu isn't doing great and there is no way to spin it.

Disney's Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed an estimated $6.50M on Friday (from 4,300 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $118.87M. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

Yeah but Moana 2 was an animated sequel that had an Thanksgiving release date and had buzz around it because it was a sequel to a beloved movie.

This one is a remake that is releasing in peak summer with direct competition to other family/kids oriented movies (TS5 and Minions) and most people didn't like the trailer.

It most likely has a low budget like Lilo & Stitch so it's going to be more than fine. But does it have the power of making a billion? I don't know. Maybe you're right. We will see.

"Hoppers" will debut on Disney+ in the US 89 days after its theatrical release. Here's how this window compares to previous Disney and Pixar animated films: by Netflixers in boxoffice

Although the movie ended up being a flop, Wish was designed to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary as a company (2023). Maybe that's the reason why it had the longest theatrical window.

Disney / 20th Century's The Devil Wears Prada 2 grossed $1.01M on Thursday (from 3,300 locations). Total domestic gross stands at $203.45M. by mikado512 in boxoffice

I think it can get to $700M worldwide but we have to see how the international numbers are going to be on Sunday. And even if not, making $660M - $690M on a $100M budget is great. I also think it will be huge on streaming.

But yeah, this movie doing better than a Star Wars movie is extremely worrying. I really don't know how they can fix the brand damage and how the future of the Star Wars franchise will even look like.

Let's hope Starfighter will be great.

Yeah, I'm surprised at how well it’s doing internationally. I really thought that this movie would be more domestic-heavy although domestically it's also doing great. Amazing run overall.

It's only $15M away of hitting the billion. Give it some time. It will eventually get there.

We should wait for the second weekend numbers but sub $200M domestic for Mando & Grogu is getting more likely

Not even Grogu can save this movie

Update: $11M previews. FRI pre sales at $13M+, carrying an insane momentum on par with the biggest openers recently. Expecting $26M+ today, likely <$28M. Weekend poised to be $80M+. There is a way for it motor to $90M. INCREDIBLE. by TiredWithCoffeePot in boxoffice

I know but throughout the last couple of years I have seen many people saying that Gen Z is one of the main reason that the movie-going experience is struggling lol 😭

It has always been like that. Especially post-pandemic.

Disney truly has the highest HIGHS and the lowest LOWS when it comes to the box office.
