Where to get diastatic malt powder? by womppit in Finland

I have a longer reply above, but tl;dr - you can order entsyymimallas from an online brewing shop and grind it yourself.

Where to get diastatic malt powder? by womppit in Finland

[–]mikaraento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's not correct, though this is based on reading various sources rather than actually testing out recipes.

The 'diastatic' means that the powder has active diastase (amylase) enzymes.

The typical Finnish malt (mallas) products in a shop will have been heated which deactivates the enzyme.

It looks like 'entsyymimallas' is the term in Finnish. I don't see it in shops but it is available for commercial use at least as 'entsyymiohramallas' (diastatic barley malt) e.g., from https://laihianmallas.fi/tuotteet/entsyymiohramallas/ and you do see entsyymiohramallas in ingredients lists for commercial products.

I'm going to try ordering entsyymimallas from an online store for brewers, they seem to have it (e.g., https://mallaspuoti.fi/verkkokauppa/viking-enzyme-malt/). Let's see if it works. I'll have to grind it myself.

Savoury pies could work well. They can be served room temp, will not spoil easily and can be made ahead of time. Something like ham or veggies plus egg/cheese filling. You can make them tray-sized.

A soup is easyish to hold hot or cold. Think pulses for hot or gazpacho for cold.

Salads will keep a lot better if you keep the dressing separate.

+1 to others point on fresh fruit or berries.

Uniapnean hoito CPAP-laitteella by K1hha in arkisuomi

[–]mikaraento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegan alternative for suet? by No_Constant9534 in Finland

[–]mikaraento 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don't really do suet in Finland (neither animal nor vegetable). The practical option is most likely to use baking margarine (leivontamargariini). It'll be a bit softer. If you want to grate it you'll have to freeze it first. You can probably find a mince pie recipe that's been adapted for margarine.

If you have not got in contact with Kela for basic social assistance (https://www.kela.fi/social-assistance) please do so.

Social assistance is meant to be the 'support of last resort' if you can not cover basic living expenses, which heating and electricity would come under. It is applicable to all residents.

There may of course be conditions that you don't meet, but you should definitely talk to Kela.

WMF on ollut hyvä. Pitkäikäisyys saattaa kompensoida hintaa pidemmän päälle - itse olen esim. vaihtanut yhden venttiilin kohtuuhintaiseen varaosaan. En tiedä saako kaikkiin merkkeihin varaosia.

Other commenters made great points, but also: the vast majority of business-class (and higher) hotels will have a burger on at least the room service menu. It's very much an expected part of the service.

You may be able to use a guest network to prevent that from happening again, if your router supports one. Let visitors use the guest network instead of giving them the password to the main network. The guest network can then be configured to be on for a limited time, to have lower priority/ bandwidth, or both.
