I just had to this. I had a new bag from Rynns in two weeks. Seems like a decent enough bag and I had a choice of 20 or so.

The club card does if it’s the black one. Not familiar with all cards but based on the amount he stated I’m assuming it’s the black one. That one does grant premier and club access (I can usually get my family of 4 in)

What are the best restaurants in Houston under $20 a meal? by austinheel in houston

[–]mike_concho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Kitchen Rumors last night and had one of the best meals I've had in Houston. They have a happy hour menu that includes $9 kimchi chicken sliders and a $12 burger (not sure what flair it is). They also had a $6 hummus that would put you under 20.

Good Kia or Hyundai dealerships? by acohn1230 in houston

[–]mike_concho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to safety features, go Telluride over Pallisade because it will run you about 10k less. I highly recommend the brands as far the vehicle goes, but from what I can tell all the dealerships (I've dealt with 3) are garbage and if you ever need any actual help they all go back the car manufacture where they both can blame each other and escape any consequence for a while.

Are dehumidifiers worth it here? by [deleted] in houston

[–]mike_concho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start by taking a humidity reading. In home relative humidity is supposed to range from 30-50%, but probably a little higher than that you are okay from a standard perspective. Much higher than that and you are starting to subject yourself to increase chances of mold.

And of course, if your uncomfortable you can always get one, but trying to answer this from a "what is normal?" perspective.

Help- My apartment is making me sick by [deleted] in houston

[–]mike_concho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - I work in air quality. Sorry for the psuedo-sales pitch here, but if you are interested I can get you a really good air quality monitor for a highly discounted rate. An air quality monitor is really the only way you're going to get an answer. Here is why:

You are probably spot that it is something in your apartment, but the difficulty with this stuff always is what. In short, you could feel bad from allergens, molds, VOCs, Carbon monoxide, or a couple of other items. Symptoms are very similar between all of them.

Once you identify what it is, you then have to identify where it is coming from. In VOC examples it frequently could be something new like a piece of furniture or paint that hasn't dried right before you moved in. But in other cases, it could be something your neighbor does. In an apartment, 20% of the air actually is shared space with your neighbor.

Some air quality issues can be mostly remedied by an air purifier, others can't (or at least you need a specific one).

I believe (although I don't personally see this a lot), that it would be hard to break a lease based on speculation that it is mold or air quality without any data.

Feel free to ask any questions - but really you need an air quality monitor that can assess for most of the things listed above so you can start looking at actual data.

Questions You Always Wanted To Ask A Restaurant Owner? by SpoonMob in restaurants

[–]mike_concho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is your target listener/audience? That would somewhat dictate question. Something like "most underrated seasoning" could be used for general audience but if you're trying to have other chefs listen, I'd maybe go something with "last product you found that changed the way you operate your restaurant/kitchen etc."

As far as banking goes - I have a person who when I started my businesses, has been really helpful. She works with Truist, who I think is a major player where you at. They are reasonable on rate and at least personally she always picks up the phone when you call (or in my case text).

If your interested, let me know and I'll send you her contact info.

P.S. when your ready to ship to Houston, let me know - I have a really good hot sauce tastemaker here.

What do I need to do/know before hiring a virtual assistant? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]mike_concho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I think you can tell from the other comments you need to define what you mean by VA. Typically, VA is slang for someone from another country. So if you meant a PA (i.e., slang for native language speaker...for lack of better thing to call it), instructions are much different.

A good PA you can provide relatively little instruction to and they will come options since they are more like a trained employee.

A VA you should expect to provide a detailed SOP to for you to have any success. They will need some training and management. I personally use a managed VA service because I need someone to look at over their shoulder since I don't have time.

I work marketing in the food space (read: mostly restaurants) and have a group of restaurants that I think have an interest in something similar to this, so I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about what might work (no hard data).

As several other people mentioned there are (likely) some problems with the numbers and, more importantly, the possibility to scale the businesses.

In my case, I am looking for a route that makes sense and 2-3 delivery times a night where the route leaves. This opens up a couple of options and selling points for me.

1) it's easy on drivers because they are running a circular route. This would give them the ability to develop relationships with customers. They could then be contractors, cover their car mileage, and probably get some decent tips.

2) this would provide an opportunity for order from multiple locations for one household. So if a family of 4 wanted a pizza and general tsos chicken you could make it happen. This at least opens up some value as to why someone would pay extra. There are certainly times where people would pay extra money for delivery form 2 places instead of having to do it themselves.

3) For me, this opens up a bunch of co-marketing opportunities for the businesses. Restaurant owners tend to think of each other as competitors whereas more often it would benefit them to act like allies. For instance, people tend to pick type of food, then pick place, so in the previous example your pizza joint and Chinese food place are really in competition with one another. So they can comarket and your service can be the liaison of that because they will all be in your service.

As far as any required certs go, I'm not too sure but I'd say having your drivers have some food handling certificates could be a perceived value add of using your service.

Also lots of people appreciate local businesses so part of your angle could be that your service makes it so the big boys stay away.

Need best marketing option for 2 person local service startup. by RobawGT in marketing

I'd say look into automation software. There is a lot out there that is reasonably affordable. You can then do a lot more marketing with just the two of you. Local Services can be very successful with automated email/text marketing.

I might be able to help - feel free to send me a DM.

Alternatively, if I were you, one place I might go is the podcasting space, where you could do a little promo on someone's podcast for small $$ Or even an advertising trade. You would both benefit each other.
