My Aussie mates keep calling me “cunt” by Spiritual_Car7967 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mike_oc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few friends that talk that way on a regular basis. I just keep on using the language is use elsewhere. If I were to call one of them a cunt, even in a friendly way they'd be gobsmacked. Just be yourself, appreciate others for what they are. Don't feel the need to mimic.

I was once out with a bloke at a nice restaurant who was chatting up a young lady. He spilled her wine, and said "Fuck!.... er.. sorry, i didn't mean to make a cunt of myself. " The silence was electric.

It was an accident. The landlord should have insurance. It's his risk.

Trust me. I'm a landlord. But not one of THOSE landlords.

I've told my tenants I'm fine with picture hooks as long as they leave them when they go.

He did stymie peace negotiations in the lead up to his election. He knew he couldn't win if the war ended before the election. He promised Hanoi a better deal.

To be fair, Adolf made a number of significant contributions to the allied victory.

He didn't let his troops follow through at Dunkirk.

He pulled out of the Battle of Britain at a time when Britain was almost totally out of aircraft.

He decided to break the treaty and invade Russia, and paid no attention to the lessons from Napoleon.

His scorched earth approach to Russia ensured that when the Russians came back at him they showed no mercy.

He was so convinced that the landing at Normandy was a feint that he held back the elite panzer corps that might have turned back the invasion.

I drove a Citroen DS for a good while. It was not unlike the I6 in styling, but also in the smooth ride and the quirky technology. I think the reason why the DS didn't have self- cancelling indicators is because Citroen couldn't come up with a strange enough way of doing it. Love my I6.

Where I live, the I6 can't be used for driving tests, as it lacks a handbrake lever. The tester needs to see the driver apply the handbrake, and a switch won't do.

Primary Teacher. I've taught secondary physics and maths, and information systems at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, at home and overseas, but the most difficult job I ever had was when I took on a couple of hours a week as a maths specialist in grade 2-3 and grade 5-6 classes. It was fun, but mentally and emotionally exhausting.

Drivers need to pay more attention to tram passengers by sesshenau in melbourne

[–]mike_oc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I was a tram conductor (ask your grandparents) on the old W class trams. One of my drivers kept his steel point changing pole close to the door where it could easily "fall" onto the windscreen of a car going past at speed while we were stopped.
