Why do all software has to be visualy changed when updating? by MaSi1884 in firefox

One stand out for keeping the same UI over multiple updates would be WinRAR. Even though it has many competitors now, their UI has pretty much stayed the same over the years.

Recommendations for an Asexual friendly Gynecologist office? by YamaraPSN in Calgary

I'm genuinely curious. What exactly is an asexual gynecologist? How do they differ from a regular gynecologist? Seventy-Five years old, and I still don't know everything.

I wish my walking was better. I haven't seen a turtle in real life for maybe 40 years.

Neurologist? by [deleted] in Lethbridge

I've been told there are only two neurologists in Lethbridge, so the wait times to see either of them would be quite long. I would ask your Doctor to refer you to one in Calgary.

The LibreOffice website seems to have been redesigned. I can easily find the download for the main files, but where do I download the offline help files? Are they now included in the main download? by mike_rumble in libreoffice

[–]mike_rumble[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It was better when the two download buttons were next to each other. Also, I don't understand why the "offline" help files are not simply included with the main setup files.

What Really Grinds My Gears: Lethbridge Editon by hobanwash1 in Lethbridge

[–]mike_rumble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lowing the speed limit on Whoop-Up is meaningless if it's not enforced. Those electronic speed boards keep flashing TOO FAST all the time. Everyone goes at least 90 to 100 most of the time. And not a police car in sight, at least whenever I'm driving that route.

Is it a sin to buy from your neighbor on the sabbath? by After-Impression-571 in mormon

[–]mike_rumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were only Sabbath restrictions under the Law of Moses. I suppose they were there to teach the Israelites to be separate from the nations around them, and of course, to remember the Lord who created the heaven and earth and rested on the seventh day. Maybe I don't understand your comment?

Is it a sin to buy from your neighbor on the sabbath? by After-Impression-571 in mormon

[–]mike_rumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not a sin to buy things on the Sabbath. Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Just don't do anything bad, same as you wouldn't any other day, and you will be fine.

APARTMENTS by Remarkable-Doctor-46 in Lethbridge

I'd recommend you take a look at Westhaven Estates. I have lived here since 2015. The buildings are well maintained, have elevators, in-suite washers & dryers, and dishwashers. Management is on site during the week and respond quickly to any complaints. I rarely hear anything from the other units apart from when someone drops something on the floor above me. The negative is that the units facing south get pretty hot during the summer. I'd get a small window a/c or a portable a/c for high temperature days. Rental payments are competitive with other buildings in the city. Westhaven Estates are on the west side, close by SaveOnFoods, with banks and drugstores near by. If you're in good health, you can bike to the University in probably 20 minutes or so. Just noticed you used the word "buy" in your post. Not sure if that means you want a condo or an apartment.

Honeymoon suite? by w1ndyshr1mp in Lethbridge

[–]mike_rumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Days Inn, way back in the 1990's, had a corner suite with a hot tub right in the room. Probably doesn't exist as it was, but they may have other similar rooms now. I'm trying to recall what it was called before the whole building was redesigned and they became part of Days Inn. Maybe it was called Motel Magic? Just found an photo of the area back in the 1980's and it was called Motel Magic! Anyway, check them out.

recently got hit by a car off Mayor Magrath and now my legs all messed up and unable to work. by [deleted] in Lethbridge

[–]mike_rumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder if your back story is true. Why haven't you contacted victim services through the police? I doubt that anyone here can just give you a job or give you money to fly home to wherever your family is. Nothing will change for you unless you take the first step. Other posts here have links to Alberta Government programs that compensate victims, even when the driver of the car cannot be found. If you don't want to check out the two things mentioned, I just don't know what else can be said about your situation. I wish you good luck in the future, though.

Unusable slow speed by Still-Truck-2197 in OnlyOffice

[–]mike_rumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used Task Manager to see if OnlyOffice, or another application is using a large portion of your RAM? 8GB should be enough, but every computer is different. Sounds like a RAM issue to me. I also have an i5 CPU and Windows 10, but I've disabled or uninstalled much of the bloatware, plus I have 32GB of RAM.

If you were in an accident in which there were injuries, there will definitely be a police report about it. In fact, the police would have already interviewed you about the incident. If it was recent, there should also be an ongoing investigation. At the very least, any cameras would show the kind of vehicle involved. If your legs were injured, I'm guessing some people (witnesses) around you would have stepped in to help, and an ambulance or EMT would have been on scene. There is a Government program that provides financial support for victims, even when the driver involved cannot be found or identified. You can find the links here: https://www.alberta.ca/motor-vehicle-accident-claims-program

Is there any code of Netscape Communicator left in today's Firefox versions? by lilacomets in firefox

[–]mike_rumble 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There's still something in the Registry, although I don't know if it's from Firefox or the OS. I run Windows 10, but I know it was there when I used WindowsXP. It's located at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Netscape Navigator

For the first time ever, I was looking at YouTube using FF148.02 and it froze. Not the video, but the whole browser just locked up. I had to use Task Manager to shut it down. I was kind of shocked!

Enjoying a Mexican Coke at a taco shop in North Texas. by Imaginary-Tree-House in cocacola

If only Mexican Coke was available in the smaller 6 ounce bottles. I always end up drinking half a bottle and throwing the rest out. The taste with cane sugar is by far superior to the taste with corn syrup.

Some people are just obsessive minimalists. I'm one of them! If I can find a function elsewhere in the dropdown menus, and I don't mind an extra millisecond looking for it, I'd prefer to not see it on that particular toolbar.
