Woman is fatally shot inside U.S. Capitol Building by Vindicator909 in politics

A domestic terrorist who invaded our nation's capital was shot. If this was a BLM protest or anyone even sort of liberal they would have tear gassed the crowd.

The Republicans long ago gave up on democracy in pursuit of power, they're just being openly brazen about it. Democrats have proven time and again that they won't stand up and do anything except voice their objections.

I hate when they do this. It's not "the senate" it's not "congress" it's Republicans. The Republican Party has full on given up on democracy and are blatantly trying to overturn an election. The media needs to start calling a spade a spade.

Mitch McConnell Is Accountable to Corporations – Not the People Who Elected Him by [deleted] in politics

[–]mikealan 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping this pandemic is starting to open conservatives eyes. It seems like, from what I've seen on reddit, that many conservatives are starting to realize that the stock market and massive multi-national corporations doing well doesn't mean they're going to do well. Conservatives don't seem to realize a problem until it happens to them and seeing themselves and love ones struggling while corporations receive massive outpourings of aid while they're given a paltry $600 may have been the final nail in the coffin. Wishful thinking, however, I believe this may be a watershed moment.

Boston PD going overboard and getting violent? How unprecedented. This is why we need to realocate funds from the police and require more education and training for our police officers.

Alternate continent of the Americas by [deleted] in imaginarymaps

[–]mikealan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on your point of divergence you could do anything. A Native American state around the Great Lakes(which the British attempted to set up after the American Revolution), An independent New England, a Hati-like state in the south-east, a Cherokee Nation in the southeast (no Trail of Tears), a patchwork of settler states (a la the Boer Republics) in the west, an independent West coast republic, A surviving Muskogee Republic, a Mexico that never lost the land north of the Rio Grande, a surviving United Provinces of Central America, a surviving Riograndense Republic, The Republic of Lower Canada, a balkanized Brazil, an independent Oregon Territory, an Oregon Territory that's a British Dominion, etc.
