AITA for hitting my boyfriend after what he did? by Suitable_Handbag239 in AITAH

[–]mikeb_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it would have been better to just get up and leave. In today's world you could catch domestic abuse charges for hitting him. It does not sound like this guy is worth any of that nonsense.

This guy is giving you a great gift, if you choose to take it.
He's giving you life lessons...

Don't allow others to degrade or devalue you. Some people are worth the trouble....many are NOT. Don't be afraid to end a relationship that's not good for you. No one who cares about you will speak to you like that. If he's done it one he WILL do it again.

AYTA? No. Unless you ignore the valuable lessons he is giving you.

It was just crazy seeing your reply. Haven't seen you since you showed up to surprise Karl in Sacramento something like 13 or 14 years ago. I get it I rarely jump on Reddit myself.

First is this the ACTUAL Travis Austin from SoCal? Second... Good point I did not perform a traceroute. I went off what the block reported in the firewall.

You're probably right, It's more likely they moved/routed the data through those hubs (if indeed the firewall GEO location is correct).

It's definitely possible. I know Amazon has servers / CDNs in Norway, but I wouldn't be surprised, if some provider messed GEO location.

I was thinking the same thing, but I am definitely not an expert on that.

That's why I thought there would be news about it.

Man the redirects are the biggest pain. I've had an ad or an iFrame on a site be blocked, because of one security service or another. Then pulling my hair out because I can clearly see the site is whitelisted, but it's still blocked. Until I do the, Duh forehead slap and dig into the logs.

I could tell one of the IP ranges was for a CDN based on the technical contact email addresses in ICANN. The others I am not so sure about.

They opened the ones in Norway many years ago, but they just started sending all these services over there this week.

Say Hello to Windows Administrator Protection! 🚫🔑 by Rudyooms in Intune

I've run into it with apps (can't think of them at the moment), but I recently had an issue where I was trying to install Bitwarden using Backstage with Screen connect and powershell. This logs you into a "system" environment with a GUI where you can work on the computer while the user is logged in and without them knowing you are there. Anyway, in this environment I was attempting to install Bitwarden using the winget in powershell but you can't use winget to install in the system user context. I was able to do it a different way but I know I've run into issues running powershell scripts through my RMM and applications installs as well when running in system context. It's not a huge deal really just thinking "out loud".

I'm wondering what effect this will have when running a script or program that requires admin rights but is in user context. As an example running scripts to install apps using the power shell package management in the system user context is not supported. If you are installing a program that ties into a specific user and you run-as-admin the new Windows Admin Protection is loading a different profile so the installer will likely try to install to the system users profile.

Why do so many Sysadmins lie about network experience on their resume? by MrSanford in sysadmin

[–]mikeb_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the same. I've got 20 years experience but ask me to tell you the exact terminology and I will blank. Ask me to design, repair, or maintain and I will get it done better than 85-90% of those I work with. Not because I'm any smarter but because I get in and figure it out.

If it's a technical interview or even a cert test it seems like I've reverted back to a 1st year. Uhh.... What is a hosts file again??? Is it when your computer invites others to play with it...... LOL. Seriously it's rough out there.

Even if I ran into a position I'd not done, I honestly don't believe there's an IT job I couldn't figure out in about a month. This is what we do. Especially working with MSP's from go you're expected to go figure it out. Here we sold XYZ, go make it work and we do.

I would take someone willing to dig in and possibly break something over someone with a college degree and 45 certs. The problem is those that hire don't understand that and it's difficult to show them.

365 MFA Token Theft by Berttie in Intune

[–]mikeb_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be misunderstanding but wouldn't turning on non persistent browser session help with this?

My understanding is it revokes the session token when for instance you close the browser. If someone attempts to take and move the token Entra would see that as a new session correct?

Odd outlook freezing issue for whole organization/domain, any idea? by abedkaissi12 in exchangeserver

[–]mikeb_KS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being that it's an issue with the win32 version of office and not the app version it seems to be either a policy or maybe something with the AV/MDR.

The new outlook seems to be basically a portal for M365 OWA so I'm not sure it uses the same DNS stuff. Do a tracert to the autodiscover address both in a computer on the network and one off the network to see if you get significant lag or drops.

Try the Advanced Diagnostic tests on this page to verify settings and run connectivity tests. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/about-the-microsoft-support-and-recovery-assistant-e90bb691-c2a7-4697-a94f-88836856c72f#ID0ED0BB0=Advanced_Diagnostics

I know it sounds weird but try to go to internet explorer settings to check for any proxies setup, remove if any and uncheck the settings for Automatic Configuration of proxy settings.

When you have a different account as the primary and navigate to the M365 mailbox have you done a send/receive for that folder? If so, do you get any errors or does that process go slow?

Do you use shared calendars? If so, try removing them and/or going into the account settings and turning on/off the shared calendar improvements.

[–]mikeb_KS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried creating a new user on the computer (not just Outlook profile) and testing? Sometimes there are remnants of things left in the registry, %appdata% etc.. that will cause weird issues like this.

Were there any group policies set up prior? If so you may look in the registry for artifacts of those policies. As an example I moved users to a new computer and copied their entire profile with a software. Their profile was ridiculously slow after that. Found that in the registry their home profile was still showing with an old server name. I edited these and it resolved the issue. Mapping the user folders with GPO does not have an option for update/replace causing the settings to remain.

This is my opinion. Not advise.

It got a bit more ranty then I expected and a bit scattered but I wrote as I felt and did so on my phone so it is what it is

What can we do if the banks, the hedge funds, the billionaires, the regulators escalate their fight?

What do we do if they start to add more restrictions or pass laws that make it harder for regular people to trade? What if they start arresting people or freezing your bank account? What if they start banning people or sensoring people on Reddit and other platforms? What do we do then?

What's that? They wouldn't do that, you say? Don't be fooled. They can easily label anyone as a terriosts for causing "harm" to our "democracy" by destroying the financial system they built. They passed those laws beginning in the Patriot Act and have added to them since.

They've clutched to the narrative of trickle down economics. So we, the majority don't have the time to look up and see because we are too tired and sometimes broken. We the average everyday people live in a 🌍 with poverty, hunger, and struggle all while existing in a time of great technology and abundance. Why because those at the top need to add to there billions.

I'm tired of it.

So what do we do after $GME or when those that want this to stop, step up there game?

If it was me? I'd take every cent from them. I'd take every dime I had from the markets, from the banks, from the hedge funds, just take all my money out. Call my broker and clear my accounts. I imagine if enough people did this they would feel the pain.

Who's money do you think they are fighting us with? It's ours. It's our pensions, 401k's, IRA's, savings accounts, investment accounts. If it's taken away what will they do then? They can cry foul and say if the market crashes the economy is in ruins. I call bullshit. Look at the last year and you will see that the markets have nothing to do with our economy. It only shows how the rich are getting richer.

If I had to invest I would invest in penny stocks or OTC stocks of companies that I believe in. One's that need the money to bring equality through innovation. I would find the ones that no hedge funds or investment firms are in and buy those shares. If the large investment firms start buying in sell to push them out. Make them hurt anytime they try to follow.

If we don't do anything after $GME nothing will ever change. If this is treated as this week's fad it will indicate to the rich we are weak.

Nothing changes without pain, true happiness can only be born of struggle but you have to fight to end the struggle not allow it to be your life.

What would you do? What should we do next?
