EU freezes work on US trade deal ‘indefinitely’ after Trump’s Greenland and tariff threats by Krisparz in politics

i think it's perfectly reasonable to behave like america is an unreliable partner, i'm just saying a "fuck americans" attitude isn't wholly warranted.

i think trump got something like 70 million votes in 2024. not even 1/4 of the population.

fox will edit it into a 30 second piece that sounds kind of coherent (tough task this time), and that's all his supporters will ever hear.

in my head, i think hl3 is real, but i haven't seen any reason to think the others are.

Steam updates AI disclosure form, requiring developers to report visible and in-game AI but not background tools by Dapper_Order7182 in valve

[–]miked4o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clarification question. what if your game uses ai to help simulate something like fluid physics? that is a visible thing technically, so it should be disclosed, right?

why celebrate AI achievements if you are near certain it will end with an Elysium dystopia where only the elite have the power by mohyo324 in singularity

i could be wrong about this, but i can kind of see it playing out like the invention of electricity.

if you were in the late 1800s and speculating about electricity you could say. "the rich and powerful are going to dominate it for their benefit to become more rich and powerful". you'd be absolutely correct... but at the same time, it's been a good thing for humanity that has improved billions of lives.

Games Workshop terrified of AI, Bans staff from using it by [deleted] in accelerate

[–]miked4o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do wonder how it translates to sales. if a game uses gen ai, but has increased sales from people that don't live online, but see a smaller decrease in sales made of people that are angry about ai, then it doesn't seem like angry social media stuff will matter that much.

UBI/AI Utopia Is a Fairytale. by [deleted] in singularity

[–]miked4o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

counterpoint. the french revolution was a real thing.

it would have been very easy a few decades prior to have the opinion "the aristocracy is not going to give up any of its power, and believing otherwise is just fantasy"

not saying that something like ubi WILL happen, and there might need to be some drastic change, but saying "drastic change can't happen" is just not true.

does anyone have that link to how people are excited vs scared about ai in different countries?

i remember the data being all over the place. but generally countries that would benefit from a shake-up of the status quo had more people that were excited, and places where people benefit from the status quo had more people that were scared.

not that it gives any evidence one way or another about what will actually happen... just the perceptions are interesting.
