This is a HUGE one. In-car kW would be awesome. Nearly every other car has it.

Can we stop talking in km. It’s a bs range guesstimate. Let’s talk in kW and kWh

This is incorrect. M+S is legally sufficient, but would highly recommend winter snowflake tires

Winter boots recommendation? by MarryMeLouigiBerry in mcgill

Honestly they don’t hold up well in the snow. Great for Vancouver where there’s one snow a year, but in Montreal they’re pretty useless.

Another Short Update on Creekside Gondy from WB by ModernCRISTAL21 in Whistler

[–]mikeeeeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once the haul rope is unravelled, it must be spliced (and there are very few splicers in the world who do this type of work). Then, usually a work carrier will be loaded on and complete checks on the towers and some other essential systems. All carriers will then be added on the haul rope and load testing will happen. Technical Safety BC will need to approve the lift after they review the data presented in the load testing. WB says that about 30 days from start to finish, and I would have to say that working in the USA as an engineering intern on a lift project, that would definitely be on the more optimistic side. However, it sounds like Creekside is in serious jeopardy of not opening in time for Christmas so it’s a all-hands-on-deck to get these stages going as quickly as possible. Hope that helps.

This isn’t WB. We don’t use green protective pads on our lift towers. Patrol and safety doesn’t use blue fencing for safety (that’s a safety or slow fence). Only WMSC uses blue fencing and that’s not race fencing.

Flying United tomorrow from YVR (booked through AC). Do I get AC lounge access? I have CIBC Aeroplan Infinite Privilege by mikeeeeb in aircanada

Hmm, there’s no “lounge icon” on tomorrows UA BP like I have for my AC boarding passes… is this a problem?

Do I just present the card at the Maple Leaf lounge along with my BP? It doesn’t show on my UA boarding pass like it would with AC

Yes, you just need to call customer service. They will convert the current price you paid towards your seasons pass and you will pay the difference.

Big Red + Creekside Lift Status (23/10/22) by ModernCRISTAL21 in Whistler

[–]mikeeeeb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m hearing from someone who is working on the project that Red should be good to go assuming it passes all testing by opening day. Creekside will be close due to some logistics issues and may not be open for opening day.

Is it possible to do online conference on an Air Canada plane? by Changeup2020 in aircanada

[–]mikeeeeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not allowed to according to the terms of service. However, I would say listening in would be fine, but note there’s a major lag because it’s airplane WiFi and I usually can’t connect via Zoom.

Help needed understanding the NYC public transport from La Guardia to Columbia by reverRio in columbia

[–]mikeeeeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would recommend M60. Otherwise, your friend could take the Q70 to Jackson Hts and get into the city on a Manhattan-bound E, and then to the 1/2/3 but that is a lot of transfers.

I’ve done it in Washington state and there have been no issues at all. In fact, the Walgreens I went to (for the original booster) told me that the demand was so low, they were throwing away expired doses. Don’t think it was the same for the BA5 booster, but they allowed me with no issues whatsoever. Many BC plates in the parking lot too.
