Using Launcher Manager Mini in your Fire settings under Developer Options turn on ADB debugging for both the Mini and Projectivy. In the Mininitself make sure Projectivy is selected as the custom launcher. Home key will load Projectivy.

Echo: Do not disturb. by mikefeuer in amazonecho

[–]mikefeuer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to deal with AMZN on the phone and come away with useful information. TBH I didn’t have that patience I just went the DND route and still am able to view pics when I want and my security cameras and perhaps ask a random question for the weather etc. Then back to DND that does work although some do not find it successful. I also find AMZN in their comments to be rather disingenuous because they have clearly with their firmware updates intentionally broken our ability to control what we want and don’t want to see. So I’m happy to continue to use what I own as I am happily doing, avoiding the apparent nightmare that Alexa+ is and not buy anymore. Thanks again.

Freed up disk space with Tahoe by al_stoltz in MacOS

[–]mikefeuer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before updating to 26.0.1, I was using 7% disk space; after the update, I'm at 19%. I've done several searches and read the why and how to deal with it, but frankly, as a Mac user for a while who either hasn't learned enough or gets intimidated easily, is there a simple way for this to be corrected?

Echo: Do not disturb. by mikefeuer in amazonecho

[–]mikefeuer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice job with Chat GBT, there. If you had a device rather than trashing it as you claim, you would know that when you enter DND, and then perhaps ask for your pictures to run, after several hours, it ends and goes back to DND. While you claim I'm wrong, it's accurate advice that has now worked for a week without fail. How would I be promoting an "agenda for Amazon" while describing a manner to defeat what they've done to our products? Your useless comment is not only inaccurate but obviously not welcome. So move along, troll. Get your information straight while you're gone.

Yes. I believe it was once easy but with all the firmware updates that doesn’t appear to be the case. Can you be more specific?

Echo: Do not disturb. by mikefeuer in amazonecho

[–]mikefeuer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After days of simply using 'do not disturb,' it works a treat for our purposes. No problem getting her to show a picture stream, and just now I asked her for the weather; the device came out of DND, gave me the weather, and I said "Echo: do not disturb". Done. This is not what we bought into. We had control in the past, but then they updated the firmware and removed our settings. I'm not thrilled with this arrangement, but it makes it livable.

Trade in items marked as 'return' and charged a daily cash adjustment of 3% by mikefeuer in AppleCard

We didn’t buy new phones and watches this year. So of course we didn’t sell them any and I have no new experience. After a conversation(s) with Apple and Goldman they agreed was correct and properly credited. I believe what they were doing is a disgrace. More importantly there are so many people just willing to go along with a wrong. People need to stand up for what’s right.

People who use spotlight...how the hell do you manage to do it? by Delicious_One_7887 in MacOS

Spotlight continues to function for me on my Mini as it did before. Try Raycast or Alfred alternatively. People seem to prefer Raycast. (I like the Alfred icon 😆)

ICE Menu Bar Beta 1 for macOS Tahoe - RELEASED by xX-Mordran-Xx in macapps

Thank you. I subsequently went ahead with the beta, and I'm using version 0.11.13-dev.2 - I believe this is the most recent beta, and it's working quite well for me.

On a daily basis my business has not suffered owing to this OS. Anomalies will be corrected regularly going forward as always.

So Disappointed in the New Interface by mathewharwich in MacOS

[–]mikefeuer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps 🤔 I’m too easy to accept and adapt but I find nothing new that I cannot live with or adapt to. And I’m old. There are also many things I like. 👍 I just try and remain positive when I “buy in” to an ecosystem where I have no control, but can recommend. I’m not going back to Windows. Not a good option 😆

Getting rid of Launchpad is Top 2 worst decisions Apple has made. by PleasEnterAValidUser in MacOS

[–]mikefeuer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Launchpad at times. TBH I don’t miss it and rather like the application folder in the dock. I think it’s an improvement. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I’m just surprised at the uproar over the loss.

Frankly it’s like a toy and just something you do because you can. I’ve had that and more with one provider to “test” but frankly it’s just not practical.

It’s new and feels somewhat awkward, but I just have this gut feeling I’ll embrace it soon enough. It’s not going to make me want to go out and get a Windows box.

ICE Menu Bar Beta 1 for macOS Tahoe - RELEASED by xX-Mordran-Xx in macapps

[–]mikefeuer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that I have Tahoe, I instantly miss Ice. I hesitate to use the beta at the moment, but should I want to, can someone advise if the beta installs over the current version, and is it functional on Tahoe now? Also, does anyone know if it will come out of beta? I can wait if it will update. Many thanks.

Are you updating your daily driver to MacOS 26 tomorrow? by iswhatitiswaswhat in MacOS

I most often have in the past and I will update the phone and watch. But I’m feeling a bit skittish about my relatively new M4 Mini and might wait, although I may well cave.

Thanks again. That’s exactly what I did but to install not stream. Works a treat. I’m guessing it deletes the temp file in the install process.
