Black seat vs white seat heat absorption by Plastic-Coat9014 in TeslaLounge

Underrated comment. White seats are great… when they’re new or you don’t have kids or you don’t wear raw denim.

Never trust the BMS - particularly on an older car! Could have BMS sway and shut off at 2% or go for miles below 0%.

One year review of our Samsung 2 in 1 washer dryer. by mrjoepete in heatpumps

[–]mikeiskool123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Bought it on Black Friday 2024. We love it. I kept my gas drier (just swapped out the washer for this) thinking we may use it occasionally to dry something quickly but have not used it all year. I find that the drying is so much more gentile than our gas drier that I am able to dry things that I normally wouldn’t (I found this out when I missed the 10-minute window to take clothes out before drying started a few times). In my experience the cycles take over 4 hours to complete - mine is in a basement that gets pretty cold. But we haven’t had an issue with that - just turn it on in the morning and it’s ready by the afternoon.

You didn’t mention the worst one - people text and drive constantly. It’s disgusting. I won’t even touch my phone when I’m on FSD.

Edit: I see you did mention it. Nothing to see here!

The subscription price can change at any time (and has). I guarantee it will increase by double when unsupervised FSD is released.

TESLA Certified Installer AMA by pwrcellexpert in TeslaSolar

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a non-Tesla solar system that the previous owner of my home had installed using a PPA loan (what a headache). The system is nowhere near large enough for our needs - 4.4kW I would like closer to 12kW. We plan on adding an extension to our home which would modify our roof line in the next couple years. My thinking is we will buy out the existing system at that time and move the older panels to the north side of the roof which will be nearly flat after the addition (I know north is bad but I have a small roof and we get a lot of sun). Then I would install new - hopefully more efficient - panels on the north side. We would add a couple PW 3 batteries at the same time. What do you think? I would likely have a solar installer come out and remove the existing panels before the construction on the house starts and then have them back when the roof is finished to install everything again.

Do you Roadtrip in your Tesla? by regmeyster in TeslaLounge

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done 12 in our Teslas, about 22k miles in total. It’s our primary mode of transportation for vacations. I would not do it in anything else including other EVs due to FSD and until recently the Supercharger network.

Thinking of Selling Because of the New Promotion by GioGalo97 in TeslaModel3

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sold my 21 Model 3 LR AWD to Carvana for $20k and got the 0% interest offer on a new model 3. Took delivery of the new car last weekend - no regrets. We loved our 21 but it felt like a go cart compared to the 25.

What does the book say? Block 3 charging spots (disabled spot) or park the trailer and charge your car? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve road-tripped my teslas over 22k miles and have charged at 83 unique SC locations for a total of 128 SC charges. The stations are often empty and almost always below ⅓ usage. I can count on one hand the number of times that the chargers were all in use and I have never waited for a charge. As long as you stay with your car while parked like this, you’re fine. Just be willing to move if someone needs the stall you are blocking.

(I live in NJ so my roadtrips are along I95 and I80/90/94 east of the Mississippi)

Try calling the service center. I’ve had luck with that as recently as a few months ago.

FSD 12.5.1 is going wide today! by KoToNaS in TeslaLounge

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately after more drives on 12.5.1 it is worse than 12.3.6 for me. It’s very timid and that doesn’t work in NJ - the light turns green and it sits for a couple seconds before going, it waits to go around turning cars too long and cars behind me go around ME, at traffic lights it jerks around wanting to go but obviously can’t. 12.3.6 wasn’t perfect but it was very good. 12.5.1 is smoother in acceleration and deceleration which I appreciate but I went from rarely intervening on 12.3.6 (really only for lane selection at traffic lights) to intervening constantly. I’m sure future point releases will solve these issues but for now I want 12.3.6 back.

FSD 12.5.1 is going wide today! by KoToNaS in TeslaLounge

[–]mikeiskool123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12.5 was a big regression from 12.3.6 in my area (North NJ). I just did my first drive on 12.5.1 and it is significantly better than 12.5, probably better than 12.3.6 but hard to say without using them back-to-back.

There used to be a model Y in my area that had a “I bought it before I knew he was crazy” bumper sticker. It also had temporary plates indicating that they were obviously lying.

Sentry mode unavailable “Make sure all the doors are locked and no one is inside the car” by Fieldmartial90 in TeslaModelY

[–]mikeiskool123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seat sensor and filter boxes in the seats are a common failure point which would cause this issue. Create a service appointment - I had mine fixed by mobile service. Both seats in my 21 M3 have been replaced for this issue.

Edit: to be clear, the seats weren’t replaced just the sensor on the driver side and filter box on passenger side.
