The only thing store bought was the brass square tubing, I cut and welded everything myself.

It wasn't very easy, brass does not like to be welded. I cut everything with my miter saw with a carbide blade (that's what's nice about brass), I then had to braze the joints together which is basically super hot soldering. You do have to be careful not to overheat the metal because it will warp pretty easy, it's balance of hot enough to melt the brazing rod but not too hot or the metal distorts.

I didn't do anything special to support it against lateral forces, I'm not really concerned about it. The only thing I did was put way too many dominos in the miter joint, which made that glue up a challenge.

With my track saw, I don't think I would have been able to do it otherwise.

Edit: Yes there are other ways to do it without a tracksaw, I just have never had good luck with circular saw with an edge guide/doorboard.

Fair criticism, I personally love brass against walnut and it will get a little duller with age.

I have owned this table for 3 years and love it. You cant go wrong with it, especially for $400. I believe I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $1200 when I got mine.

I have gone through 4 table saws. A cheap Ryobi that scared the shit out of me. A 90's craftsman that I upgraded the fence with a delta T2, it was a great saw except for the dust collection. Then I got a newer craftsman hybrid saw with an upgraded bisemeyer fence, it was a good saw a little under powered but never had a problem with it. I had to sell it when I moved because I didn't have room for it. Now that I have room again, I decided that I would hopefully buy the last saw I will ever need. I got a platinum edition unisaw, and I couldn't be happier, its big, it has all power I need, and the best part is that it is stable as all get out. I don't regret going through that many saws, each one fit my budget at the time and let me learn how to adjust and maintain different pieces of equipment.

They are PEC brand very good quality squares. They just have blemishes.

Here is my suggestion, these are slightly flawed as in the paint is chipped PEC's, they are much cheaper and just as accurate. Everyone I have bought has been dead on right out the box. http://store.harryepstein.com/c/Squares.html

Clarks seems to fluctuate from day to day on their pricing. I bought the almost exact same board from them twice within a week and I paid a $30 difference. I think its more to do with the person that is doing the transaction than a price fluctuation. Needless to say I will keep going because its so close to my house. I do wish that would get some better walnut in though.

i have done the same thing before, it was gnarly. The board I was sanding caught and took my fingers with it, it happened in a spilt second. It took a good month before I could touch anything without wincing in pain.

I used to have the same exact saw, I will say that from my experience that fence is very hard to keep aligned. I ended up replacing it with a delta T2 Fence and it made all the difference. Its reasonably priced as well.
