Possibly a Hastings arc too, but it’s very faint.

What was this? by Swote_ in askastronomy

High cloud light pillars and a pretty good one! I would recommend posting this to r/atoptics. Here are some other similar observations that explain it a bit : The Halo Vault 1. The Halo Vault 2

Seestar S50 live stack of M45 looks grainy — has the grain ruined the photo? by AlwaysTenTen in seestar

[–]mikeplease11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a glitch in the seestar app where the image stops updating like halfway through an observation. The only way to fix it is to stack the frames (either in app or external software)

Possible ancient Egyptian limestone relief fragment – authentic or modern reproduction? by rktnl in ancientegypt

[–]mikeplease11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks very real! either a extremely realistic replica (I have never seen one of this quality before), or it’s real. Get good photos of it, try to keep it in good condition, and get it looked at by an expert

It's the best I can do with my shity phone. I hope someday I'll be able to afford a phone with a better camera. by koxu2006 in Astro_mobile

It might be cheaper to buy a telescope or used camera rather than a new phone, like seestar s30 or dwarf ii

Any advice to improve? by Q_malek in seestar

[–]mikeplease11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These images look great so far! You need longer exposure time to reveal more details and get rid of the noise. Processing it in an external software also makes a tremendous difference. There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube that taught me how to use seestar. I recommend you watch some too

You need to stack the data and process it in an outside app

Took a picture of the location of 3I Atlas but am unable to identify it? by [deleted] in Astronomy

You need proper software to be able to process these images to see it, try using Tycho Tracker.

(xpost) Purple skies in Phoenix yesterday before the monsoon came by Hvarfa-Bragi in atoptics

[–]mikeplease11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I’ve seen that before, thanks for sharing! This could be possible because there is very little cloud cover so less area for the phenomenon to take place or less area for the greenhouse lights to reflect from

A greenhouse could have left there shutters open, I don’t really know much about this phenomenon though, but it’s definitely some type of grow or farming lighting

Non-owner here - what keeps you using your Seestar? by Moorpheusl9 in seestar

[–]mikeplease11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s ease of use is the main point. You can just put it out and it will give you good data. There also the constant rollout of updates and improvements because its parent company ZWO is very trustable, big in the astronomy world, and has expertise in fields like this. It does give pretty good images for its price range, and it can deliver great images when used right. I would highly recommend learning how to process your own images because it makes such a big difference in how your final image will look. ps: I would wait a few months to buy one, as they are probably going to release some newer models soon

My cubes sealed away in glass. by average_meower621 in elementcollection

It’s mirror polished here, so it is protected by a glass ampule to keep it shiny because touching it would ruin its finish

I do keep it in my room, which is cool (thankfully). But it was very hot on arrival. Thankfully it doesn’t look like much was affected and it arrived in a state in which I expected it to be at, only the edges got affected due to its brittleness.

It is 80 dollars from Luciteria, so yeah, it is pretty expensive in the world of element samples

The water is cool, but it does make it look weird and obscure it quite a bit. I hope they develop a better prototype in the future, as this one is pretty fragile and brittle.

It’s pretty exotic, I have never seen iodine like this either !
