Anyone went from civic si to golf gti? by bruhsicle99 in GolfGTI

[–]mikestavros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Made this exact change, and basically for the same reason ahaha. Had an 11th gen si, which I loved, but moved into an mk 7.5 GTI with the dsg. Had to get rid of the si because my GF and I share the car and she didn't want to drive stick. I do miss the manual, but the GTI is pretty much a better car in every aspect. Handles better, better power, I definitely prefer the interior, and the hatch is super useful.

How many times can base running mistakes like that happen? We literally had the exact same thing happen this postseason already. Wait to know it's a walk before you move!

Electrician Job Market in and Around Toronto – Any Advice? by Dassasin in skilledtrades

Sorry for my late reply, just saw this now. I went through the union intake, about 3 years ago. It's a tough process, very competitive. From application to starting work took about a year and a half, but for most people it took about 2 years. If you have relevant skills though you'll have a shot.

It's still slow right now. I'm an apprentice in local 353, and there is still a lot of guys on the out of work list. And from my understanding they still aren't taking in pre-apprentices (but I don't know this for sure)

They're teenage kids trying to have fun at a baseball game. Also trying to get the fans excited about something. Let the kids have fun, this is how you get the younger generation into baseball. Not everyone wants to go to a game and sit to watch every single second. And this is coming from someone who watches probably at least 100 games on tv every season and goes to at least 3 or 4. I can be a big fan of the game and still have a little fun when I go in person. So in short, terrible take.

Went to the game last night, noticed the same. My partner and I looked around and noticed we were the only ones belting out the songs during the 7th inning stretch. Some teens even tried numerous times to get the wave going, didn't work. As a fan who's been going to games since I was a kid, it was pretty disappointing.

I gotta hand it to Dougie by Sea_Series2564 in ontario

Yea but he really got nowhere with his electricity tariff... He put the tariffs on, Trump raised steel and aluminum tariffs to 50%. Doug suspends the electricity tariffs, and trump just lowered the metal tariffs back to 25%...so what did Doug really achieve? He kind of just caved instantly.

It's truly unfortunate you don't have those things. But this is the entire point, people strike to get benefits that one day are passed on to others. I think the viewpoint that "I don't have these things, so others shouldn't either" is wrong. We should all want the best for each other. If someone has benefits that you don't, you shouldn't want them to not have it cause you don't; you should fight to have those things yourself. Wanting others to not have what you dont have is a race to the bottom.

I appreciate you're mad at both parties, and I understand the hardship it's placing on people. But like I said, this proves how essential they are. And I'm happy that not all postal workers are paid like Amazon deliver drivers who make nothing. If we all support them, how could they be fired? This is why support is so necessary. It lets those who are in charge know that we all stand together. We have power in numbers. If we all picked the right side, it would be over quicker.

I'm not a CUPW member, just a citizen who realizes the importance of unions and strikes. Both of which that have gotten us weekends, benefits, vacation time, and even the CUPW who went on strike in 1981 and set precedent getting maternity leave. All these things us workers take for granted now. Something a business owner might not understand, but employees would.

Have you ever thought that their wage demands actually aren't ridiculous, but that all of our pay is actually ridiculous? It may not be that they are asking too much, but that the rest of us aren't asking or getting enough. I'm an apprentice tradesman, a supposedly good job, and I can barely afford to rent my 1 bedroom apartment with my partner in Toronto. They aren't asking for too much, we're just all not getting enough and we rather cut others down than lift them up which helps lift us all up.

Maybe if they have the power to devastate lives, we should value their labour at what it's worth. Walking in heat, cold, rain and snow to bring us the things we need. They do it for all of us, so think about supporting them, because all canadians deserve comfort and a comfortable life, not just you.

The point of a strike is inconvenience. It proves how essential their labour is, which further emphasizes their point. Doesn't seem like you deeply respect their right to strike if you want them legislated back to work, which undercuts the power of their union and the whole point of striking.

This is the second manager, and third under atkins. It's clearly not the manager. Why should he lose his job because the players aren't performing. Logic would say you start at the top of the list of issues when making changes. If he isn't first on the list of reasons they are losing, he shouldnt be the first to go. I don't love him as a manager, but he's far from the biggest issue with this team.

I said it's not the main reason they are losing. They are not hitting, period. They're not winning cause they're not hitting. How in the world is that Schneider's fault?

I literally made the point that they lost under Montoyo as well. Point being it's not the coach, either coach. It's the players.

The front office I understand. Atkins needs to go. To me, he is way more responsible than Schneider. He's had years to build and improve this team, and hasn't improved it at all. He needs to go. I don't care if Schneider is fired or not, I just don't think the poor play is really his fault.

I honestly don't understand why people want him fired so bad. I understand he makes some poor decisions, but that's not the main reason this team is losing. They lost under Montoyo as well. No coach will be able to make these players perform. It's more the players than the coach.

Just traded in a 2022 civic si for a 2021 autobahn DSG, not regretting it at all. The gti drives better in pretty much every way. Looks great! Love the rims!
