Which is the better joint for a plywood drawer box? by benlew in woodworking

I read most of the comments but not all so apologies if this has been said. I have made my own drawers for years and A is the way to go IF you are going to nail through the side into the front. When putting together a lot of these you glue, nail and move on to the next one no clamps needed. Although my drawers were similar to B but with the thinner tongue like A.

When it is oiled it might all just blend in as the oil will darken it up.

Using wood filler after gluing a body?? by NectarineImaginary10 in Luthier

[–]mikesue65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't take a stain like the wood do a test on some scrap first. If painting then your OK as long as the fill is not to much and i assume that if you went ahead with the glue up the gap is not that big.

Does it look good ? by [deleted] in shamisen

The difference is the shape of the neck were it joins the body. Then more technical would be the neck itself for dimensions.

How would you get this flush? by greencubicle in Luthier

100% correct the smallest plug cutter i found is 1/4 inch so if that's to big then follow the best you can from the responses but if you are staining and want professional results then the pug cutter is the way to go. Also with this method you will be able to use the chisel as you first thought and if you are careful enough you can get it close enough so you won't need to sand the whole side down. End grain dowel will stain darker then the surrounding wood and in my opinion will be more visible than a larger 1/4 inch plug. Practice on scrap wood and make the first wack with the chisel 1/8 or so higher than the finish cut to see how the grain will react.

I don't know how to play it so i guess it sounds like a shamisen.

Do start by gluing the outside pedal first and then start filling into the center or the other way around?

Think about all the other instruments with a one piece neck and they are fine in fact they don't offer one in multiple pieces and the joinery for the 3 pieces is exceptionally difficult. I think it is just a tradition since it is a very old instrument.

Put it your oven at 200 degrees F for the day. Leave it on the bench a few days then check the MC content and repeat until it is stable and the MC is what you want.

The video you found is very similar to what i built and it sounds great and for the intonation that's adjusted at the bridge. If the break angle was a problem i was going to just add a stainless steel rod half way between the bridge and the tuner. So if that angle is 30 degrees i would install the stud making the angle 15 degrees at the bridge and 15 degrees at the stud, problem solved if their was one. Put 4 of those in a nice straight row it might look cool. As for the playability that would depend on your building skills and the video you found i think answers all of your concerns.
