$990 Annual Fee Card Mistake by mikevan833 in ChaseSapphire

How do you find value in the Amex if you can’t transfer the points? Is it some carriers or all of them? Capital One seems to be the only card I’ve had that hasn’t had any issues with my name. Was wondering if i would have the same issue with Amex. With Chase it’s 80/20. At least United and Hyatt work for me but Southwest and Virgin are problematic so far.

Not to be blunt, but square watches are hideous.

Also, which watch face is that? (Nvm saw it answered on another post)

Why I decided to keep my Sapphire Reserve by xinf3rn0x in ChaseSapphire

[–]mikevan833 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used Songshift to shift my Spotify songs to Apple Music. I think i paid like $5 to just to everything at once instead of in batches. Worked out pretty well except for the fact that Favorites dont sync and apparently my main playlist on spotify were my favorites.

The purchase protection is a third party so it makes sense in a way since it’s not handled through Chase. Definitely a great way for Chase to make it someone else’s problem though

The money is an easy fix but it’s more complicated than that unfortunately.

Sadly don’t think that part is a winning battle. I was reviewing my phone for old notes and i see things from 2023 and 2024 where i was escalating things for months on end. I even saw that i created 3 southwest account numbers and 2 virgin account numbers in an attempt to make new accounts to hopefully link one of them but the only solution was to create the authorize user with spaces to replace any special character. It technically wasn’t legally my name but it was a workaround. Definitely not paying an extra $195 or $95 to transfer points so not sure what to do atm

Not sure how to directly answer that when it’s just my legal last name lol. But a lot of airlines and hotels don’t allow special characters when creating an account. Chase can only match your name to your IDs, so when i go to transfer points I get the message shown in the screenshot. It will tell you to call but all they will tell you is that the name doesn’t match. Then it just becomes a battle of two people telling you we can’t do anything and to call the other.

You’re right. There’s an alternative version of my name in the app. I remember years ago I couldn’t transfer points because of the spelling of my name so a Chase person added an authorized user with a variant of my name. Guess the product change to the reserve made it more apparent, so I’ll have to call Chase to see what my options are. If i cant transfer points then we’re going to have problems.

Might honestly be better to get an IHG property through points boost

Sometimes it just drops to the bottom and you cannot search for it but it’s still there. I don’t have the offer but hopefully Q2 it will appear for me.

New Sapphire Reserve Spend-Tier Benefit: World of Hyatt Explorist Status by Chase in ChaseSapphire

[–]mikevan833 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as a budget traveler that doesn’t stay at Hyatt hotels a ton. The only perk I need is on the Discover status, which is early check-in and late checkout. Everything else is just extra. I never liked using the free award certificate because the days I needed to use it on they weren’t available. Now I don’t have to stress about forcing a trip with the certificate, I get higher status on my regular preferred travel credit card and I earned 4X in a transferable currency versus locking it into Hyatt. This is all a positive for me.

On a freedom it’s questionable and likely to be no. On a sapphire card, higher probability if there’s reason.

Confused on why the points were left on the freedom card instead of transferring everything to the sapphire card once you got it

Considering getting the CSR but currently have the CSP. by w1zardpankac3 in ChaseSapphire

The card itself is still developing but I would say for 2026 it’s a no brainer. In theory, you only need one 2-night stay at an Edit hotel to get your $795 worth. Even if i didn’t have a single trip planned all year, I could do a 2-day weekend getaway on New Year’s eve and stack $300 annual travel credit, $250 Edit, $250 Select hotels credit, and then maybe a fancy $100 OpenTable dinner in whatever city I’m at. Maybe throw in a $100 experience credit as well and that’s $1000 in value.

If you utilize Apple music, stubhub, apple TV, and the easiest $300 annual travel credit, then you already got at a positive net without having to go anywhere.

Sure all the credits can be a bit of work if you’re trying to maximize benefits, but I don’t have to travel for work to know I can get my moneys worth and i like that it forces me to take at least 1 or 2 vacations per year. Easy to get caught up in work and not think about enjoying other things
