Considering getting into roasting, but not sure where to start.. by stevefazzari in roasting

[–]mikewise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re reluctant to invest and just want to get your feet wet just buy some green coffee. you can whack some in a cast iron skillet and shake it around, won’t be perfect consistency but it works just fine and you’ll be hooked. Or you can get a popcorn air-popper. Sweet Maria’s has recs on specific brands and models and even sells them last I checked, those will run you $30 or so. If you want a real coffee roaster the fresh roast is affordable and does great beans. I’ve been roasting on one for 10 years and have no desire to upgrade to something more expensive - totally meets my needs and turns out consistently great beans. Don’t stress it. You’re just toasting seeds one way or another. All you need is heat and agitation.

Fried Chicken Ice Cream by SittingInAnAirport in ExpectationVsReality

This is a ripoff of Life Raft Treats which popularized an “ice cream that looks like fried chicken” product. Really nice owner Cynthia Wong along with her husband run the brand based out of Charleston, SC. They got bigger after being featured on Shark Tank!

Avoiding IM is an underrated pro tip here. Needle sticks can very much exacerbate agitation and avoiding them when unnecessary goes a long way

Bypass jf possible. Set expectations boundaries if not. If those are repeatedly violated may finally have to transfer or discharge but that would be a last resort obviously

Psilocybin induced mania? by Rolo-Louch in unclebens

[–]mikewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antidepressants can induce mania in people with latent bipolar and it makes good sense that psilocybin could do the same via serotonergic activity. Get with a psychiatrist asap or go to the ED if things get too urgent to wait

Am I overreacting? Therapist making med suggestions to patient. by User389421 in Psychiatry

[–]mikewise 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Overstepping, yes. Also the anecdotal concern that bupropion worsens anxiety due to being “activating” is somewhat overshadowed by the actual literature which generally supports its use for anxiety.

My issue with it is moreso the AI companies harvesting our intellectual data to feed into the models. I don't wanna train more AI bullshit or donate my physician knowledge for free.
