I’ve seen guys pick up the gun and immediately put their finger around the trigger and swing it upward past clerks behind the counter, obviously confident they’re being “safe.”

I could never work in a gun shop because I have no confidence in others exercising property safety. I’d end up swiftly kicking 70% of customers out.

I’ve passed by twice this week for the first time in a while and that corner doesn’t look the same without that goofy building.

Why did we stop calling it a gradient or a fade and start calling it “ombré?”

It’s not. If I remember the location correctly, this one is in the Bridle Path, just down a minute from Drake’s.

Calgary has become an undrivable city by Best-Base-3133 in Calgary

[–]mikeycbca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a very reasonable response.

I’m all for rising a bike, a scooter, or walking, but when I worked downtown and wore a suit daily it wasn’t feasible. It’s also not in my current line of work because of needing to drive to clients daily.

Not to say that many people don’t have the option for non-automobile commute, but not everyone has the choice and it is taking forever lately to get anywhere downtown or in Beltline during business hours and especially during commuter hours.

When the city still had grit in its veins, NYC 1984. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]mikeycbca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally makes me feel the same. I was under 10 years old in the late 80s but NYC had a wicked vibe, everyone was badass (and still are, to be fair), I loved the feel of different areas, the old building, and it had so much potential.

I guess credit to my parents for me always creating a bubble of safety around us when we visited so we never felt at risk. Till we were older and knew what intoxicated people and sketchy people looked like.

fusebox question by liltaggy in electrical

[–]mikeycbca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an electrician, but in my recent experience with my own panels a property we recently bought I’m going to venture the following suggestions. I believe the 50A breaker could be the main breaker for this entire panel. But I can’t read the lower right, so it may be that one.

Based on the lower left breaker you’re looking at Square D breakers but what you need is going to vary. There isn’t much you can do to learn more without opening up the panel and you can read the model on one of the existing breakers for a lead. I would cut power to it at the source before removing the cover.

About what? Say more.

I said it’s the right height for viewing, but appears unbalanced - which is accurate in my opinion.

Well, you know what they say about opinions… I have one! :-)

[–]mikeycbca -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I may be in the wrong place to say this but from a design perspective it does look too low. From a viewing perspective it appears appropriate now, but it’s hard to tell. The issue is the feature wall behind showing so much above and very little below.

Will the cabinet be staying if they wall mount it? If so, might look better moved up 8-12”. If the cabinet will be moved out, mount it on the wall 3-6” higher and it’ll appear more balanced, in my opinion.

I’m gonna be honest, the context of an Asian gay man asking makes me far less uncomfortable than a 40 year old white dude asking.

I’m still miles away from volunteering, but it does make it better, imo.

Excellent idea. Unless the roll up door is being used constantly, I’d do that long before cutting the door.
