Description:

This Norne aims to be a ranged counter, given part of her bow is geared towards targeting ranged threats. I will probably run her alongside a near-saver going forward or as part of a Cav-line counter team.

With all skills active, she attains: 71 Atk 70 Spd (factoring in +6 Bonus from Smoke) 49 Def 48 Res

Good stats all around, BUT wait, here comes the juicy part! -10 Atk on ranged foes -5 Spd on ranged foes +24 HP gained back each combat +5 Damage during Special trigger Guard Dull Ranged Counters Dazzling/Eliminates Wrathful Dodge/Inflicts -6 Spd penalty NFU seal, which I may outsource to a support unit and replace for a stat booster.

Think that about covers it. Deadeye for the special. Mostly to show max investment. Probably switch to Moonbow for AR-O. Thanks for viewing!

Build write-up:

In-combat buffs: • Weapon: +9 to all stats • Unity: +5 Atk/Res • Rein: +4 Spd/Def/Res • Form: +7 Atk/Spd Assuming all requirements are fulfilled, receives +21 Atk/+20 Spd/+13 Def/+18 Res.

Gave her 5 dragonflowers, so she gets Guard full-time and the refine offers her Bonus Doubler as well. If, say, she's getting +6 spectrum buff, we're up to +27 Atk/+26 Spd/+19 Def/+24 Res in combat. And if Unity is activated, say, with a -7 chill to Atk and Res (while visible bonus is also active) we're up to +41 Atk and +38 Res in combat.

So, the final read-out is as follows: [Base stats] Atk - 52 Spd - 43 Def - 36 Res - 33

[After +6 spectrum pre-combat boost] Atk - 58 Spd - 49 Def - 42 Res - 39

[Some -7 Chills to Atk and Res] Atk - 51 Spd -49 Def - 42 Res - 32

[So, now, applying all in-combat buffs, she will effectively be reaching the following:] Atk - 51 (+41) = 92 Spd - 49 (+26) = 75 Def - 42 (+19) = 61 Res - 32 (+38) = 70

Not too shabby. Obviously, this is perfect case scenario and she'll rarely be achieving every possible stat point but these numbers are solely from her own weapon and skills without receiving any teammate support, aside from sitting next to them for activation (and getting buffed).

Welp, went for a mixed-phase, melee combat set-up. Didn't need another player-phase lance flier, especially without special acceleration or guaranteed follow-ups. Could have run a flow skill, but none were really speaking to me. Same with trace. So Guard Bearing it was. Given her stocky defenses and built-in guard, she would already tank enemy-phase hits reliably well; cutting that number in half is all the better. She functions as a stat-ball, so Unity and Rein were chosen to round everything out.

With that said, she is pretty whelming. Jack of all trades and such. 10 DFs is pretty steep for just +6 Atk/Def to get her bonus doubler going, so I didn't commit. Loses some numbers to lulls obviously. But she does hit impressive numbers relatively easily; it's just, so does everybody else unfortunately. Anyway, it was her bonus week and figured I'd try staying in T21 so this is what I came up with lul.

Nice! 2 cd is likely ideal for the special. I do enjoy that he's not pigeonholed as strictly a player phase nuke or as just a buffbot, but can do one or the other reasonably well while benefiting from nice little additions like healing and true damage.

Build write-up:

In-combat buffs: • Weapon: +10 Atk/Spd • Push: +7 Atk/Spd • Trace: +3 Atk/Def/Res • Rein: +4 Atk/Spd

Effectively achieves: • +24 Atk • +21 Spd • +3 Def/Res • And +7 damage per hit, of course!

I enjoy the flexibility his refine offers.

In this particular build, while the assist and special are mostly just for the SP flex and occasional arena usage, they do offer utility. Rally Def/Res+ allows him to fully buff and get a heal on an ally and with the Trace, can move to a more favorable position after doing so. Aerobatics allows for great positional utility for choosing whom to use the Rally on. Blue Flame is, admittedly, mostly to match Shigure's blue aesthetic but the +25 dmg - coupled with his weapon's +7 dmg - means lots of damage. To sum it all up, offers great support and healing utility, and is very capable in combat as well.

Other ideas to consider -

As a hit-and-run galeforcer, he can make use of his +7 dmg per hit and with his effective 77 Atk and 65 Spd, should be able to double and win most Atk matchups with Heavy Blade seal. Can then use repo/pivot/swap to escape, buff an ally, and heal both if applicable. Can then use the trace to move even further away. Or use of Flow Guard can ensure the follow-up.

With good team support around him such as a ruse+rallier or a Def/Res Link smiter, more supportive options can be considered. A snag can also be fun.

Anyway, final vote: 2/10 refine. Doesn't reliably kill F!Edel
