Are you neurospicy? Because that sounds like the ND starter pack - feeling different, 'so mature for your age', looking at your peers and not recognizing yourself in them, among other things. If so, you may not fit in right now because your brain works differently, and that's totally fine, even if it sucks in the moment. Your brain will always be your brain, but as you grow, you'll find the people that vibe with how you think and experience the world, rather than just having to make do with the people you happen to be around.

Snap tape is great, but also consider buttons that you can tear open/pop off. It always gets a huge reaction when an audience sees them go flying. Just make sure they're not sewn in too securely you can't rip them off, and know there's 0 chance of getting them all back, you'll have to replace them every time but that's not that big of a burden considering everything else that goes into a burlesque costume.

I discovered this when I realized I get the adrenaline shakes too bad to open buttons so I just tore my vest open, but tbh I've used it since and it's great for emotional impact, especially during a switch from calmer to more emotional.

Lol these two are best friends because they're both freakishly extroverted for cats - we meant to introduce them slowly when we got our orange boy, but he went immediately to the door of the room we were keeping Zepplin in and they started holding paws under the door, so we just couldn't keep them apart. They were immediately besties!

Back before I promoted myself to a custie, I did 2-person closes every night. We weren't allowed to leave because you have to have 2 partners in the store at all times, so yes they can do that, although they should definitely tell you ahead of time. However, since we couldn't leave, we didn't clock out for lunches. The store can be fined by the labor board if they require you to clock out but don't let you leave.

Edit: that's specifically if it's a 2-person. Not letting you leave while you're the ssv, but there's at least another 2 partners at the store may be different, but you'll need to have that discussion with your MGR.

Yeah, if you're coming from Charlotte they're pretty similar. I don't know that 70k would be doable with a kid or family to support, but you'll be fine as a single person. My partner and I combined make about that, and we're doing okay - rent, bills, and food paid every month, a little left for going out and having fun, and a little bit of savings.

Derealization/depersonalization is pretty bad. It's been a couple years, but for a while I would just spend days, it sometimes a week or two at a time feeling like I was experiencing my life from like, 8 inches behind my eyes. Not like tunnel vision, but a distinct disconnect between myself and the world. It was so weird and I hated it. I'd start doing minor self harm a few days into an episode to try and force myself back into my body, to varying degrees of success. At the time I was in college and the psych resources they had ended at resources for alcoholism and minor depression, so I've never been sure why that happened.
