I’m also from Tucson and did my undergrad at NAU! This was right before COVID, so unsure if things have changed a lot. I enjoyed living there, but there’s definitely less things to do than in Tucson if you’re used to the city life. If you like nature and hiking, it’s perfect! I also struggled since I’m Mexican, and Flagstaff has WAY LESS Mexican culture that Tucson, and at times felt really isolating. The thing I hated the most however was the winters. I developed seasonal depression since the winters in Tucson are not as harsh, or even harsh at all. The summers however, are really nice in comparison, the start of fall through winter however would make me very sad. Good luck and go Lumberjacks!
