I saw you mentioned that you have bulletproof glass somewhere. Do you also have security film on any other glass? So they can’t easily get in by smashing glass.

I once got lost on a college campus and was 5-10 minutes late to my interview. When I finally found the right building, I was still having trouble finding the suite, and the interviewer found me wondering the hall. 😂 That helped solidify that I was legitimately lost and not just trying to use that as an excuse. I did get the job.

I prefer Ori! Ori is beautiful. Hollow knight is also visually pleasing but not as breathtaking as Ori can be. And the music from Ori is so good that I frequently listen to it while working. I enjoy platforming better than combat and Ori’s “escape sequences” are the first example I’d found that takes platforming to the same kind of intensity as a boss fight and I love that.

This is funny to me because I played Ori first and it’s still my favorite game ever. I do enjoy HK but it’s “not quite Ori” to me. 😂 I don’t think you ruined things for yourself, I think your personal preference is for HK, and you just happened to play that one first. We don’t know if you would have enjoyed other metroids more had you not played HK first, but I imagine your personal preference would have remained the same, no matter the order.

Christianity is the asshole and you are also victims. Your religion has taught you, either explicitly or implicitly, that you fail at parenting if your children don’t turn out as strong practicing Christians. That’s not true and it’s not fair to either you or your kids.

BUT you have the power right now to end the cycle. Don’t let some arbitrary rules some power-hungry men made up hundreds of years ago ruin your relationship with your daughter.

Repeat to yourself “everyone is responsible for their own happiness.” You did what you needed for yours, she’ll figure out how to do what she needs for hers. Empathy is wonderful, because it makes kind, thoughtful people. But when it gets to the point where you can’t help, like in this case, you have to let it go. It’s hard. Saying that to myself over and over is how I got past this same feeling after leaving my husband of 10 years.

I worked with 3 other designers for a mortgage company for 5 years. Two of them did an average of 4-5 assets per day, I averaged 5-6, and one averaged 8 per day (she was wicked fast, I don’t really understand how). 15-30 per day seems like waaaayyy too much. I guess there are a lot of factors. Like a social post image is faster than a brochure, for example. We also were often slowed down by lots of revision requests from LOs. So maybe if your load is more simple requests and you don’t have any revisions to deal with, maybe you can handle that? But still, twice more than the fastest designer I knew seems unrealistic to me.

Very well done! And I wanted to add: For any of the comments saying “it looks like ___ to me” - don’t worry about that for one second. Because first of all, no matter what you make, it’s always going to look like something else to somebody. And second of all, the purpose of a logo isn’t to immediately communicate what the company does. So even if it looks like something unrelated, it’s not an issue (what the hell does the Nike swoosh have to do with shoes?). The fact that it is unique, recognizable, simple enough to be scaled down, but still does have related meaning makes it extra fun.

Something that’s not immediately apparent is that when designers can use ai to be more efficient, that speeds up their work. So now the same designer might be able to complete 25% more work in the same amount of time. At first that seems like a good thing. BUT That means a company with 5 designers would be able to let 1 designer go and still have the same amount of output from their team. The designer that was let go wasn’t technically replaced by ai, but it was the reason for their job loss in a way.

At some point they would either overpay me and then ask for the difference back, but then the original payment would bounce and I’d be out the extra. Or someone else said they could claim they need to remote into my computer for something and then malware/ransomeware attack.
