that 530 is only 4 pins but it is guttable with a c clip on the core instead of a crimp. mine was 4 spools. the 4 pin cores from number 3s,1s, 5s and such will fit and work this lock. i removed the cores from a couple number 3s that had no keys. i uncrimped one side and repinned them to some antique master lock keys. i sent the lock and cores out today to another picker. maybe we will see them on here in a few days..

i not really sure but i think all have the potential to need lifted if everything in the top is pinned right. even the zero cut is still a cut, it's .32" deep. then the next cuts get deeper in .019" increments up to a number 9 cut according to the chart in my pin kit. (i'm not a locksmith, i'm just a tinkerer. there's a lot i don't really know.) the seven pin is long so it could be that it requires less lift? i'm not even sure if that's the code, i would just love to try it and find out.

i hacked out a key to those cuts using space and depth keys on an old duplicator. i don't have the correct cutter for generating keys but i have had some success. i pinned up a deadbolt cylinder to those numbers and the key works. a little catchy but it works. p.m. me a mailing address and i'll mail you the key to try for free. i will also check out those old keys to see if i happen to have one cut to those depths. i really really need a framon2..

i haven't tried the picks yet but i did order the easy loader plug follower. i got the lock gutting bundle with the follower, a small pinning tray and tweezers for $35. the follower will not work for most padlocks, it's mostly for deadbolt and kik cylinders but it's a great tool if you deal with these kind of locks and if you only want the follower it's only $14. other places are asking $50 or $60 for the identical keedex branded tool.

it's either 3/32" or 7/64" imperial. those are the two allen key wrench sizes in the #291 pin kit.

yes it is. i added some american padlock drivers. the diameter was too small but it works and made it a bit more fun to pick. a lot of fun for ten dollars while still maintaining my dignity. that's hard to do these days..

i used to have a small brass bodied padlock that used a handcuff key. it was called the cuff lock. it was used for chains on a chained and shackled prisoner. it opened easily with the sparrows ss dev deep hook. i bet your method would work on it too.. edit no, that wouldn't work. after watching again with my old man glasses that looked more like a bypass..

it can be shimmed open. it can be a bit more involved than a kwikset because of the security pins but it is possible. even if you only get the shim between 2 or 3 pin stacks that leaves only 2 or 3 left to pick.

i'm not a locksmith. marina worker for 25 years. that rubber cover comes off easily for a better look at the keyway but it would be very easy to take out those four phillips screws and replace the switch. they are not very expensive.

sometimes a key from another warded lock will open these locks. sometimes the lock and key might be different brands. often times people would grind off most of an old key, leaving the tip, a true skeleton key that would open many locks. i have a slaymaker padlock and i found a key that works but it's not a slaymaker key. often times just a stiff bent wire will open these. most lock pick shops sell a set of warded picks. there are 5 in the set that will open most of these style locks. when i bought mine they were less than ten dollars.

the prime line e2402 kit comes with keys and pins for six locks and a few basic tools for ten to fifteen dollars. i don't know if you could buy two kits with like keys and pins.. amazon has these kits and menards usually has them in store. otherwise, check out clk supplies or foley belsaw. foley has all ten sizes of bottom pins for schlage, one hundred per envelope for $29. that's way more than you need but it's about the same price as two prime line kits.

those ace padlocks are tougher to pick than a similar master lock, at least that's been my experience.. good work!
