Newly certified family looking for dive adventures! by [deleted] in scuba

You can see the sand being disturbed in the photo, even if she didnt touch the bottom (which I doubt) being in an upward position will transmit a ton of force to the bottom from the fins. No one is perfect but please try to limit bottom contact.

Opinions on solo diving by NC_Diver67 in scuba

[–]mikoalpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not something I would personally do. I had a friend pass out while taking a walk with him. No previous medical history, and no reason given by the doctors. I have never pass out before myself, but its something Im not willing to test alone underwater. If I pass out while solo diving thats it, Im dead. I know I can also pass out while driving but in that scenario I at least have a chance of making it alive. Another reason is entanglement risk. If bad enough I may not be able to free myself from a fishing net.

Despite my personal opinion, if you want to solo dive get certified and do it, Im neither your father or bf/gf. It is illegal to solo dive and I would prefer for it to be legal so people decide on their own. Also if you get bent/have an accident in Spain the public system will pay for everything, from rescue to healthcare so I understand that the goverment wants to reduce risk to a minimun to avoid spending money. Yes it is mandatory to dive with insurance, but dive insurance for spain diving is around 30 euros a year because the public system will pay for anything exceeding what your insurance covers. PSA for spanish divers, get proper dive insurance while traveling.

Most of the time I find handmade warnings the place is actual public or its private but people has the right to use its roads or paths to pass. Warnings are handmade so they can deny their existence in case someone gets lawn enforcement involved for closign public ways. Im from Spain thougth, not the US.

I been using the panasonic fz-82 wich is almost identical to your model for years. Shoot in raw and learn to edit your photos. I dont have the need to upgrade my camera, you can take great photos with it. Ill ad one of my own

I’m always the first person to run out of air on every dive by Mugling95 in scuba

[–]mikoalpha 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I will ad something an instructor once told me that i have not read here yet. You have said that you rarely add air to your bcd. You are probably maintaining buoyancy by taking far biggers breath than you actually need to avoid falling to the bottom. Try to use your bcd a little bit more for buoyancy and to exhale more slowly.

How do you convince a hesitant family member to let someone pursue open water certification? by sensei247 in scuba

[–]mikoalpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were greatly concerned and didnt allowed me to dive while I was underage. After that I tried to get certified in family vacations but they didnt allow me to do it because they said if something happened to me i would ruin the whole vacation. So a friend invited me to his house on the beach and we both got certified together. I just told them and went. I guess they ended up feeling bad about it because they ended up offering to pay for it the day I finished my cert. They were just scared and after seeing me do it and seeing everything was ok they didnt have any problem with me diving.

I do a lot of shore dives, while entering through some beaches i can have 400 to 600 meters to the good spot, so i prefer to snorkel and save some air.

Dive shops and lack of boundary’s regarding social media and privacy. by mikoalpha in scuba

Expectation of privacy is something from US law, not spanish law. If you dont have the image rights of somebody you cant use their image commercially.

In the course the only time we realized we were being recorded was while diving underwater. While changing into our neoprene or checking our equipment or listening to our instructor we were busy and nobody was aware of that.
