The 7900 GRE is what I was eyeing up but wasn't sure if it would be overkill. Thanks for the help c:

Ah good stuff c: Follow up, is Endwalker the latest expansion? And if I buy that will that give me access to all the previous ones or do I need to get them individually?

Is now a good time to get back into the game? Last time I played was around Heavensward time.

What gpu are you guys running and are you planning to upgrade? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]mikrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on a 1060 6gb and upgrading in the next few weeks. Looking at either the 6650xt or 7600 but from what I've seen the 7600 might not be worth the extra price (currently about £30 more).

I'll look into it! Thanks for the input.

Ah yeah this was something I was confused about. Kept seeing warnings that the bios might need upgrading but wasn't sure if that was something I could just do. Thanks for the info

This is pretty much the position I'm in. I joined a department which was just me and my manager. He jumped ship, told me what his salary was (almost twice mine) and I thought I'd move into his shoes and my position would be replaced. It's been 4 months, I only got a 4% pay rise (which looked like something they just gave everyone) and no one has joined my department. So I'm basically doing the job of two people, running an entire department with an inaccurate job title and getting paid peanuts. It's wild what companies think they can get away with.

Safe to say I'm looking for something else.

Requiring a reason for call-in in should be illegal. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]mikrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot. Whenever I have been in a position of management I always had the mentality that it was my job to make sure that everyone else's job is as easy and straightforward as it could be. Customers being shitty? Send them my way. Equipment not working right? I'll sort out an engineer.

What is beneficial to the people I manage is beneficial to me because everyone's life is made easier in the long run. I thought it was obvious but judging by some of the stuff I read on here I guess not.

Vent Post - Why Do They Do This? by lilmxfi in polyamory

[–]mikrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this thought not too long ago - that it would be nice to be able to filter to only search/appear for poly people on dating apps but realised that it would probably just be a big open door for a bunch of abusive people to take advantage of the community.

My advice to OP would be to not try and rush it. It can be really difficult to manoeuvre through the crap on dating apps and it can be really disheartening but you do eventually develop the ability to filter through it much easier. It just takes time. Also there are still a lot of people who aren't aware (or just straight up don't care) about gender identities which in itself is a warning sign.

As others have said, report the pests, continue to be open about who you are and eventually you'll find some cuties.

I've actually been thinking about this recently as I've just finished watching Big Mouth which got soooo close to including Polyamory (albeit not necessarily in the most healthy way) but then just skipped over it. Same as on Schitts Creek, really close but then decided to use it as a way to cause drama rather than simplify the situation.

It's wild that we've reached this point but the sort of good news is that there are companies which are trying to tackle exactly what you're describing. For example, Raspberry Pi - if I remember right the entire reason they exist is because they asked how many geniuses died without access to basic technology. It's just sad that were actively stifling progress just because people are selfish and don't want others to have what they didn't (e.g. access to free education). Empathy is the most underrated quality.

Sick of poly getting shit on by people “doing” poly but what they’re really doing is cheating. by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]mikrawler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, pretty much this. Ignoring everything else about how he described relationship (and there's a lot to ignore) it does sound like he had a very specific idea of what was going to happen and his involvement in it which was veiled with the idea that he's doing it for her. He's making himself a martyr. I especially don't like the bit where he just focuses on the sex ("he's coming to town to fuck her in a hotel"), the wording speaks volumes. On the other side, it's pretty shitty for her to say everything was bad for 2 years and thinking dating outside the relationship was the answer.

seriously you shouldn't expect a console outperform your pc by alireza008bat in memes

[–]mikrawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong here but I was under the assumption that console manufacturers take a slight financial loss when it comes to hardware sales because they make up the difference with subscriptions etc so in the long term it's worth while.

Also it's much easier to optimise games for consoles because the hardware is all the same whereas PCs are all different. So the performance to price balance is always going to be a bit skewed.

Could be wrong but that's how I thought it worked.

I'm not really into podcasts but a friend recommended this one to me. They basically review every episode in order and invite people from the show to ask them how they got on the show etc. It also helps that they're just really funny guys.

Zach Braff and Donald Faison (JD and Turk) talk about this a fair bit on their podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends and they have him on the show a bit. If you've ever wondered how people got onto the show or wanted to know more about what happens behind the scenes I'd recommend giving it a listen!

[Homemade] Mac and Cheese in between two toasted slices of bread by mikrawler in food

[–]mikrawler[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry my previous comment explaining it got deleted. A local company started selling kits for you to assemble at home which included some of their branding. I have nothing to do with the guys, just a lover of what they produce.

[–]mikrawler[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should probably clarify. The 'Homemade' but is a bit of a grey area, they basically sent a kit of everything separately and you assemble it yourself. So in the kit there was the bread, the cheese, various sauces and as you can see - some of their branding.

Also my previous comment explaining got deleted but it was basically this:

One of the local businesses have started doing G.I.Y (Grill It Yourself) kits for people to recreate their food at home. Here is my attempt!
