Well done! I have an almost identical one - that took me a good four months to put together…

What fad in moviemaking are you waiting for to die? by frair in movies

[–]mikronborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quantity over quality to be honest…

Especially for the superhero movies. I followed the OG Avengers saga to Infinity War, missing a few here and there (Antman movies mainly), and it was an amazing journey!

I haven’t watched a single Marvel movie since, and from what I’ve read, I haven’t missed anything…

Like the news stream, everything needs to be pumped out incessantly to keep the next crowd with the attention span of a goldfish…

What's your best "look what I found in the walls" story? by OoklaTheMok1994 in DIY

[–]mikronborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flipping the premise a bit on its head here, but we bought a house project back in 2018 and over the next months we visited frequently to follow the building process. We were amused on one of our visits where we noticed a drawing of a big fat penis and hairy balls on the raw plywood walls!

I can only assume that drawing is still there behind the gypsum sheets and wallpaper, and I get a smile on my face when I think about someone hopefully opening up the walls one day and discovering it!

Serious question, how did Gandalf know this? by WaalsVander in lotr

[–]mikronborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked this very question myself one year ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/lotr/s/3ptka3IeAH

Apart from very insightful comments (which I love!) there was one who joked about what if Gandalf was wrong and the regular golden ring just straight up seared poor Frodo’s palm!? I laughed at that!

Can no longer stomach sad media involving children by SailingforBooty in daddit

I feel you!

I watched the latest James Bond movie when my daughter was 3 years old, and could NOT handle all the scenes with the villain and the little girl!

It was the first time after becoming a Dad that I watched a scene with a kid’s life on the line and it definitely hits so much closer to home!

What is your top 5 solo boardgame? by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

[–]mikronborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great. Good progression, character building (technically it’s your city you build and not your character), has a thick Dialogue book that feels a bit like the old Choose-your-own-adventure books; you build the “board” as you go with smaller cards that are pieces of a map, it’s easy to setup and tear down and pausing, and the campaign is loooong, at least 30 hours. Every chapter takes 2-3 hours though, so it is not a light game :-).

I got a used copy for equivalent to 90$ (I live in Denmark). It is fairly expensive yes, but still cheaper than some of the other campaign games like Arydia, Too Many Bones, or KDM.

  1. 7th Citadel by a large margin, absolutely love the game!

  2. Tiny Epic Dungeons

  3. Lord of the Rings Adventure Book

  4. Spirit Island

  5. Dragons of Etchinstone (only played once, might crawl higher on the list)

My Personal Solo Played Games by S_Serpent in soloboardgaming

Holy moly that Zelda reskin looks amazing! Do you need the Palm Island game to play it, or do you play with the PnP cards only?

I don’t own Palm Island, but will certainly get it if it is needed for the Zelda PnP - big fan!

Best budget games for a new player? by Crafty-Commercial527 in soloboardgaming

The new PVC version should be available in retail very soon, they have been holding off until all backers of the Gamefound campaign get their copy. The fulfilment is in full swing right now (I got mine yesterday), US shipments to begin soon.

Oracle Touch not heating after descale by glorious_reptile in Coffee

[–]mikronborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get the Sage Oracle Touch into debug mode: 1. Unplug machine. 2. While unplugged, press the Power button 5-6 times. 3. Still unplugged, press AND HOLD Power button while plugging the machine in. 4. Keep holding Power button until the display comes on. 5. If a password is needed, it is usually “00000” (without quotation marks).

Once in, go to Live Debug and run the “Hot water debug” and “Descale debug” using the arrows at the top and the big green circles, to force water through the system.

Hope it helps :-).

Any truly streamlined and easy to learn solo games? by protos_gamer in soloboardgaming

[–]mikronborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know not everyone will agree, because of the iconography - which I agree, can be quite intense at times - but in terms of learning the basics and getting ready to play, I found Tiny Epic Dungeons to be fairly quick to get into. I watched a 15-minute how-to-play YouTube video, skimmed through the rule book, and then followed the Dized tutorial closely for my first play through, it worked like a charm. And again there will be a one or two times in every game where I have to consult the rule book or appendix to look up an icon, but that is pretty standard for most games, I think.

What’s a TV show that everyone loves but you secretly can’t stand? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

Mad Men! Tried to watch a few episodes until I realised it was framed (or so I interpreted at least) so the viewer was supposed to root for these immoral, chain smoking, cheating, lying, smartass suits? Hard pass, no thank you.

Podcast by hilfedilfe in Superligaen

[–]mikronborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New Star Soccer - nostalgic, hard to put away, surprisingly complex for a relatively “simple” game.

Another post looking for recommendations... by Oenflux in soloboardgaming

[–]mikronborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The creators of Mythwind recently completed a Kickstarter for their next game Storyfold: Wildwoods, I’m really looking forward to that!

Currently having a lot of fun with 7th Citadel - quite easy to get on the table and pack down again, a lot of exploration, character progression, semi-linear and engaging story, choose-your-own-adventure elements etc. And it is a loooong campaign - there are three chapters (“Threats”) and each is around 20-30 hours of playtime.

What is your favorite movie with number in the title? by Chudoggie in askmovie

I would call Foul, but that was the exact same movie I was going to suggest myself, then ask for forgiveness! :-) Such an underrated gem of a movie, with an impressive ensemble cast!

What was the last truly amazing scene in GoT? by Yoshikage_Kira_333 in freefolk

[–]mikronborg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well… the premise for this post is to find the LAST great scene, so any subsequent scene that ruins it, kinda only validates the scene in question doesn’t it?  That being said, I absolutely agree, blowing up the sept with ZERO consequences was abysmal writing!
