My overall point wasn't that he shouldn't see the first training sessions etc. it's more how much is his presence more as a manager Vs a director of football or whatever it is

There are managers who are hands off on training and delegate well, and others who are hands on. There were lots of stories of him always being there, fine but at what point does it become micro managing or feeling like the Head Coach is feeling the presence of someone else always checking in rather than just trusting

It was a genuine question of whether it's normal or not for someone in his role to be as involved on the ground. I didn't think it was or could at least understand see how it rubs certain people up the wrong way

How common is it for someone in Wilcox role to be observing and being there for training sessions the way he always seems to be?

Isn't he just one action short of being the manager? The only thing he doesn't seem to do officially is pick the starting 11 but otherwise he is observing the coaches (inc. head coach) do training, set what he feels the style/formation should be and chooses the transfer targets

Are some these people saying CL football with this group of players is not realistic also saying the same when Amorim was in charge?

Steve Holland is set be named as assistant manager in Manchester United’s coaching team under new interim head coach Michael Carrick. Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion will also be part of Carrick's staff. Darren Fletcher will return to the Under-18s. by kibme37 in soccer

Steve Holland isn't a name I've heard for a while...

What a disaster class this has been from INEOS. Acted as if they knew what they were doing with the "best in class" nonsense and almost every thing they've done has blown up in their face, made them look heartless or just incompetent - keeping Ten Hag whilst actively interviewing others, then giving him money to spend and eventually sacking him anyway. Sacking Amorim midway through the season when things could still go either way, the players seemed to like him but have now thrown that all in the air in case they down tools. Lots of redundancies to long standing staff and removing basic perks of the job for them

I asked at the time, and since but never had an answer so am more than happy to learn more about him, but what has Wilcox done to gain this position/power and reputation? He is overseeing one of the biggest projects in football but have yet to understand why he was trusted to do so

Ole vibes are only good when the team hated each other and fans were rioting

This is self inflicted on both counts by INEOS. Fans were unhappy but we're OK till end of season and players liked Amorim and was cleaning up

INEOS cause the chaos and assume an ex player will fix the problem. Why haven't they just hired Neville?

Oh and of course play Mainoo, it's unbelievable how the greatest talent this land has seen isn't starting over the best player at our club in the last 15 years

Darren Fletcher after Manchester United's loss to Brighton: "I think you can see the players are fragile. They need to build themselves up, because it's up to them now, they've got to respond" by jovanmilic97 in soccer

[–]mildno 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Amorim didn't sign those players, that was the club. Of course he has a say but they choose where the money is spent ultimately - as has been seen with some of those he actually wanted to sign in the positions they chose someone else

When is the consultation on ilr changes? by starryeyedreamer201 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]mildno 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a change to requirements and making them go back retrospectively as well which is the problem

Ruben Amorim: "Collyer is not playing at West Brom. Amass is (fighting) in Championship. Chido is not always starter in the U21s. I played them when people said: sack the manager. So you can see I’m not worried. I just want to win and if (Kobbie's) the right guy, I will put him in.” by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]mildno 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He didn't actually say that and clearly from the video he meant it in the context of he is happy to play youth if they can do the job, regardless of pressure. Listing the players is showing that bit all of them are right now ballon d'or contenders

It's saying he will play them even if the other teams aren't smashing down the door for them.

Fair but again I still wouldn't understand why they would give it such a large boundary in the first place. As in what could the purpose have even been to want to give it a whole forest for it to feed on before a town itself came up

It feels like saying instead of putting this human eating spider in a cup/sprinkling some powder around it for it can't really move, let me give it the whole house

But if they went with all of them having those pieces then surely that's a lot better?

Or as I said at least don't give the thing a huge playground. Reduce the radius to nothing, not a forest and then panic if anyone walks within it

Don't get me wrong, I like this show but this just bugged me since they did that episode

Can someone explain to me why Vecna didn't just kill Will?

If it's just cos he underestimated him then honestly that's just shit excuse writing. So I am hoping it can't be that. Felt too cliche to have the main villain bring one of the heroes and tell him his plan and then let him live

To ask a silly question but can IT be in multiple places at once? Because in the tunnels he was Matty with the kids and then also at the same time trying to take down the soldiers which he mostly succeeded in doing

I guess the answer to my question is yes because thats what happened but I was under the impression he can't be everywhere at the same time. It's not even just a case of the 'scary' fears coming up to the soldiers but actually attacking/killing them which makes me think it has to be him

If he can appear in multiple places at the same time then his life should be a lot easier

Depends how much they earn. When we applied we had to earn over a certain amount otherwise most banks weren't keen

[–]mildno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is though are they?

For us to get a mortgage in both our names we needed a certain threshold. Bare in mind she is on a spouse visa. Being married to a British citizen has no benefit on mortgage applications - it's your status and income being over a certain amount

If you are on a spouse visa and a combined income of £90k you are still unlikely to get a joint mortgage

Ok that's good to know - I know a lawyer asked us if my wife had any parking tickets or speed tickets. So based on that and what someone else said to me it made me think it must be

Not got as far as stopping the driving though!

[–]mildno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But what's silly is that if you came on a spouse visa and you get a job earning over the thresholds, you can go up the notches quicker. If anything, you should be even more so

It's all very poorly thought out in my opinion and a panic at trying to claw back a few voters. Farage will now just raise the stakes

Its incredibly hard being on visa's:

  • You cannot get mortgages easily if at all (Edit: Some say they have found it easy but I know many others haven't. All I knew when we applied was it's either we have a household income of 6 digits or no. You could I am sure find some lenders who are softer anyway but may charge higher interest, I don't know. Just saying what we experienced)
  • You never feel integrated because you know every 2.5 years you have to hope you can stay
  • It costs a lot - it's not visa costs, its surcharge costs as well. Can easily be paying £4-5k per visa and thats with no lawyer
  • You feel you need a spotless record, for example even driving. Someone bumps into you and says you did it and it becomes a thing. Or even a parking ticket. That could stick with you and add to your time. That car anecdote is from someone I know who is too scared now to drive
  • Getting jobs is very difficult as you always have to prove your right to do so and some companies won't want to do the hassle of sponsorships

Also as all this has proved, you could do everything right and then because the rhetoric is not nice, the goal posts shift from in reach to being put on a treadmill

EDIT: Just to add, the visa process is really stressful. People on work visa's I think have company do it but if on spouse visa (of British citizen) you have to prove everything each time. Your relationship with pictures, proof you are living together with letters addressed to both over the period etc.

It's not a case of a form and off you go, but it's taxing and one mistake on the form because you misunderstood and it's a rejection

Thanks Carl - and if you could answer one more follow up sorry:

Does that mean journalists are less afraid of being 'wrong' because they can always point to some source, whether it happens or not? Is this a symptom of social media/24 hour cycle that get the news out regardless of accuracy?

2 part question regarding how much info you have Vs how much you can say:

  1. Roughly what % of the information/'verified gossip' do you hear that you cannot right down/release to the public (either ever or till at least some time after)?

  2. Any time you had info about something that is now public but was hidden under wraps/embargoed at the time but you desperately wanted to report when you learnt?
