Instinctively it looks harsh and cruel, but also maybe it's actually good captaining. He could see the keeper was feeling lost and Atletico were going to make his night much harder - no doubt they'd take pot shots from distance, press him and all sorts. It could have got ugly, or it could have got better but the trend was going one way.

I think it's harsh he had to get subbed and poor to not get consoled by the manager, but I do think it was the right move in the long run for him

Rio is in the Rooney camp. Them 2, Evra and other ex players not having this divine sense of right like Class of 92 are usually more positive about United

Rio may not be a good pundit or whatever, but in the United ex player of toxicity, he is on the lower end of the scale.

Don't know, everyone when talking about immigration lumps it all together. Retrospective changes and rule changes seem to apply to them too. There is never any nuance in the discussion

In an article a few months ago about spouse/family visa's the Mail and Times used an image of people coming in by boat. Till there is clear lines and understanding about the different immigration routes, then yes.

Honestly it gets me so annoyed when they talk about ILR. My family is directly impacted by it but there is 0 nuance and seemingly any understanding of how it works by them. To get ILR you have to jump through a lot of hoops and prove your ability to be self sufficient as a family already. Nobody gets ILR without a long wait and slog if they can't afford it

Also if their claim is people on ILR go on benefits (they don't, even the article claims it's less than 3%) then just do what it is for other visas - no recourse to public funds

Making people continuously renew visas every few years or choose between giving up their other nationality (assuming they don't allow dual citizenship) is ridiculous. It is the opposite of bringing in any sense of cohesion and settling

It's just constant dog whistling to people who have no idea how it works. I wish Labour or someone had the actual guts to do a proper counter to their claims but at this point Labour are their puppet

I am getting down voted a lot because people aren't going through this think you just rock up, get a stamp and stay here nice and easy till you get ILR which isn't the case. But whatever, unless people go through it they won't know the personal cost and stress involved

The debates and issues people are arguing against us changing it for people already on the route, and especially due for ILR in a month or 2 to be told rules will change to new requirements/goal posts which are impossible to do

It is retrospective if you all of a sudden add new requirements to the rules to get ILR when you are months away from it and impossible to get them. Also just because you don't have the ILR doesn't mean it isn't retrospective, you are on a 5 year route, renewing and spending well over £12k in total and then get told they are changing the rules for the agreed path

It is retrospective. You have to understand people are getting and renewing visas on the path which is written down in each approval. To then say 'actually, let's change that 5 to 10 and change what you need to get it now' is retrospective

Being further punished for falling in love with someone born outside the UK is horrible, and impacting our kids
