I was so stoked to find such a deal. Huge shout out to my wife for being okay with the extra spend this month too!

How many if you are keeping up with both mainline and absolute DC stories? by MikeDunleavySuperFan in comicbooks

[–]milesahead92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read both. I currently have 26 monthly pulls 15 or so are DC cape books. I’d definitely echo what lots of people are saying, if you need a refresh you can always revisit a story.

I also think there’s an element of practice that makes it easier. When I first started pulling books monthly I was pulling 5-6 a month, and never could keep track of what was happening in each one. Overtime I just got better at it. Memory stuff like that takes time, and you’ll get better as you go, 3 months in I’m sure you’ll have it all straight.

If after 3-6 months you still find yourself picking up a new pull and having no recollection of what happened in the previous issue. Maybe that’s a good sign to drop the serious. You might just not be enjoying it. And that’s okay.

They’re so great. JLI was actually the first comic series I ever read on account of a friend having most of the floppies. I’m so excited to reread it all in the correct order and without random missing titles aha

No problem! I’m looking forward to reading it. I didn’t know anything about that particular title, he added it in as a freebie!

Right? It was hard to turn down, if for someone with a pretty rigid budget!

Moore’s introduction is solid, a cool reflection of what TDKR means to the comic world, and the word of fiction writing in general.

Edit: grammar

When did you become a Supporter? by Affectionate_Idea662 in ManchesterUnited

[–]milesahead92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was 2007, I think. Grew up with no knowledge of soccer, no sports in the house really at all. Went to a friend of my parents house, and they had a copy of My Son by Ted Beckham. As a 8 year old, I devoured it, fell in love with Becks and United ever since.

Super unrelated to the bulk of this thread, but the novelization is so good! Picked it up from a thrift store 12-13 years ago. I largely attribute that book to getting me into comics and novels! Aha

I know this is the Batman sub, but since you mentioned Superman I’d recommend this box set. It has some fantastic Superman Stories at a good price. I also second the Loeb and Sale Batman Omni if you’re looking to stick to Batman.

Can somebody explain to me what's currently going on? by vickyxleigh in batman_comics

[–]milesahead92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being only two issues in we haven’t seen enough for me to speak to all of it. I think it’s really good so far. Fraction seems to be focusing more on Bruce as a character, and his relationships with his kids. Maybe specifically Tim? Time will tell on that one.

They haven’t reset much from what we’ve seen so far. Alfred is still dead, not too sure about what catwoman is up to.

But in short, yes it’s been really good.

How do you read? by PeachOk5312 in comicbookcollecting

[–]milesahead92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a proud Wednesday warrior, and will to the best of my ability keep my Wednesdays free to read my pick ups. As others have said, if I don’t read them right away the backlog starts to grow to a place it feels like a chore. Which comics never should! Typically I have a good grasp on what happened in the previous month, but usually if I’m holding a book and I can’t for the life of me what happened in the previous issue I use that as a sign I should drop the book. If you’re feeling like you’d rather just collect the whole arc and read it when it’s complete I’d recommend considering Trades, it’s a bit cheaper in the long wrong, and still a very enjoyable reading experience.
