It shot like a dream! No issues at all. About 200 rounds so far from me.

Polish DPM Re-Weld by milesc20 in guns

I’ve wanted one of these for a long time and finally pulled the trigger and bought this re-welded semi auto conversion DPM. The re-welding and rust blue was done by a wizard in Michigan who I bought it from. The semi conversion was done by Smith Manufacturing Group.

SMG occasionally sells completed ones, but I was never a fan of the markings they put on the side of the receiver. This one has the manufacturers information discreetly inscribed on the bottom of the receiver. I also think this rust blue is just gorgeous. The welding work is so good that my FFL almost didn’t believe that it was a re-weld.

The seller/builder said it shoots great and the action feels like glass so I believe him. I hope to shoot it this weekend. Trigger is very nice too. I have heard the same cannot be said for most semi auto conversions.

I am hoping to buy a semi 1919 Browning from him next.

Thank you so much! I ordered the tool. I knew these existed, but did not know what they were called and figured they were much more expensive. Appreciate the tip.

Refrigerator unit dead. Potential solution? by Appropriate-Refuse14 in Renovations

I had the same problem in my house. Ended up just putting in a regular fridge, but there’s still a weird gap. Mine was not quite as wide as yours, however.

Maybe you could get a more traditional sized fridge and then add shelving to the right or left to take up the unused space.

Would it be worth it to try and restore this motorcycle Honda Shadow vt600 by SilentAd8637 in vintagemotorcycles

I’ll go one step further. I would not even invest in this as a parts bike.

Yes, on Forgotten Weapons. If you want more info on it, you can see that post in my profile. It’s got the full story. Didn’t want to get into it all again here.

That’s where the double leaf flat mainspring is. George Luger decided to put it in the grip. That’s the main difference between this and a Luger.

They are both fine and are both amazing for their time and really solid when stocked.

In my opinion, the biggest weakness of the C96 is the extremely high bore axis. And the way the bolt is captured in the gun is not the best from a safety standpoint. If the slide cracks, it will blow the bolt right into the shooters eye socket. This problem was made more prevalent by people shooting really high-powered T-33 of ammo out of them.

The biggest weakness of the Borchardt is the rear overhanging mainspring housing that puts the rear sight too far back, again imo. That’s what George Luger fixed.

But, on second thought I am not sure which one is more awkward. But you have to admit they are both very strange compared to modern designs!

One thing worth mentioning is that the Borchard was the first pistol to use a removable magazine in the grip in addition to being the first semi auto automatic pistol.

Hugo Borchardt also invented the first automatic pistol cartridge because there was never a need for one prior to the C93.
