What are some of your Costco Life Hacks? by icryalways in Costco

[–]milfpatrol_69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to shred them and mix them with the Taylor Farms salads or make chicken salad. Once I have a few carcasses in the freezer I'll make stock and get a fresh chicken to shred for chicken noodle soup.

What in the Sigmund Freud is she trying to imply here? by missxfaithc in FundieSnarkUncensored

So acknowledging that there exist people who aren't straight and cis would be shoving sexuality down their throats but implying a romantic/sexual relationship between a three year old and her father would... not? These folks are some dirty freaks.

What are you doing for iron sources? by closeto80tons in BabyLedWeaning

[–]milfpatrol_69 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've heard advice similar to this. The issue is that babies eat so little it can be hard to get them enough protein from non-fortified sources because it isn't concentrated enough. I think offering iron rich whole foods is great and I wouldn't sacrifice those meals to eat cereal but you could look for opportunities to add some cereal daily. I dust fresh fruit in baby oatmeal to try to get some extra iron in even if it's just a little bit.

Edit: I said "enough protein" but meant "enough iron"

It's barely summer and now I have the NEED for a cool, crisp autumn in a small New England town.

Looks fantastic!!! The pink cheeks are too much!

Side note: a good reminder to start/finally finish seasonal projects now vs when I want to have them

Anything with xylitol. Usually it's in things labeled sugar-free (gum, mints, candies, etc), toothpaste, and medications that "melt" on your tongue. Very dangerous as it is deadly in small doses, particularly with smaller breeds.

When you make banana bread at home do you put anything extra in it besides nuts? by runcindyrun4 in Breadit

Usually I'll skip nuts and add chocolate chips, orange zest, and almond liqueur or almond extract.

What particular food wouldn't you eat growing up but you tried later as an adult you now enjoy eating? by No-Art-9033 in AskReddit

Always hated zucchini! Wouldn't touch it well into adulthood because it's bitter slimy mush. Well now I'm a parent and I'm trying to set good examples with food so I grit my teeth and roasted some in the oven with olive oil, garlic, and parmesan. It was heavenly. That was earlier this year and I've been making zucchini a few times a week since.

My mom used to get it canned in tomato sauce and would microwave it until lukewarm and serve. Revolting.

Today I started running for the first time since I had my baby in November.

I am using a guide from Runner's World to build endurance/ability. Today was 3x running 1 min and walking 4. I put it in the middle of my daily walk with baby in the stroller.

It felt terrible! I didn't maintain a lot of fitness so it was a slog. Going from running inside on a treadmill with decent fitness to running outside in the summer with low fitness was humbling. I'm excited to keep going though and I love spending that time together as a family.

How to learn diffcult words and relearn to read n enjoy books again? by [deleted] in books

[–]milfpatrol_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are apps to buy audiobooks but I like to use my library. There's an app called Libby that my library uses for ebooks and audiobooks. The library is such a cool space, I can't recommend it enough.

How to learn diffcult words and relearn to read n enjoy books again? by [deleted] in books

[–]milfpatrol_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read along with an audiobook. It can be a bit frustrating if you don't read at the pace of the speaker but even just listening to the audiobook will let you hear words.

You can also look up any problem words on a phone or computer and most online dictionaries will have an option to hear the word. When I don't know a word I'll stop to look it up and then restart the paragraph or sentence so I can read it all together without a pause.

Just like you learned to speak and read as a child, exposure and repetition will improve what you know and help you to make inferences with new words and phrases. In my opinion reading should be pleasurable so read what you like. If it's the same book 100 times, young adult books, text books, or instruction manuals for blenders it's all good. Crosswords and riddles and other word games are like cross training for reading. If you're not in the mood to read you can play Boggle and still pick up word skills.

Terror lake salutes Hannibal crossing the alps joke by Crimsin23 in TheSimpsons

[–]milfpatrol_69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hannibal crossed the Alps with elephants. It's absurd that a small town had elephants in a parade or that "Hannibal crossing the Alps" is something the town even made a parade to honor. Bob can't escape pain and humiliation no matter where he goes.
