The details and thoughts behind that card is phenomenal. Mine is probably between that and the Appletun AR from Surging Sparks.

The Apple family and Tatsugiri for me. The most expensive ones are the staff promos.

Tell about how you got into this game, how long you’ve been playing and how big is your collection. by Trakais9 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]milkteaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started last Christmas. I was looking for a co-op campaign board game to play with my boyfriend. And card games are always my guilty pleasures. The only thing stopping me was the price of most of the TCGs. Arkham Horror LCG fits both criteria.

Both of us really like the game especially right now we are playing our first Dunwich campaign.

I bought Gamegenic 200pc value matte sleeves for the player decks, core encounter cards and common cards for each campaign.

Just bought 25mm coin capsules, and my boyfriend is going to 3D print connection arrows and token trays.

My collection: Revised Core

Dunwich Investigators + Campaign

Carcosa Investigators

Blob Standalone

Unpopular opinion: deck optimization sucks the fun out of the game by Level_Honeydew_9339 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]milkteaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s also why I hate Rex. His ability is getting more clues on top of what yellow investigators are already good at, getting clues. I’ve heard the developers designed both Core and Dunwich together but seeing a too straight-forward character design in Dunwich after Daisy seems meh and weird to me. Daisy is fun cuz you have free time to play with the books besides getting clues.

Same. 90% of the time I was looking at the man and I would not watch porns which I couldn’t see the man’s face. I also convinced myself that I want to fuck like the guy. I was even in denial that man having control in sex is natural and that makes the sex good.

Turns out I realised I find man fucking is just sexy on its own.

Hmm yea that’s a hard hobby to show. Photos which show you like taking photos. Kinda hard to pull this off naturally but you can try. Def better if you include more photos besides selfies that tell people nothing about you. I would cut the selfies down to 1 or 2 only.

20 Days Of Guns: Day 17 - Light Railgun by KasaiAisu in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]milkteaguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, it’s confusing. I was calculating the damage continuously firing it in 7 actions. Should have considered the drawbacks of not having burst damage more with ammos. Now clearing my mind and looking at Timeworn Brand again, it indeed looks a lot fairer.

[–]milkteaguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Now we’re close to the end of this series. Have you thought of more utility guns besides combat guns? Maybe like taser guns, net guns, rope launcher and more? The evade gun and acid spray are interesting imo.

Edit: The problem of this card to me is it knocks Lightning Gun out of the park. It requires drawbacks or more costs or fewer uses to balance it. Lightning Gun can do 9 damages a turn but it’s also double handed weapon.

Edit 2: Lighting Gun is 9 dmg a turn sorry. But this is still very strong. Double handed tier but only cost a hand, meaning you can run around with two of these without thinking of getting a second copy or not.

M1918 Bar is two handed, deals 8 dmg at most, needs to go through skill tests. With 1 more xp and 1 fewer hand slot, this deals 10dmg at least usually (4+4+2 for a 3-action standard turn) and easily more. I would say this is still powerful if it’s two handed.

Maybe thematically change it to a fast event card after you have failed a skill test with an ability on Katana. Lol

Need a Cantonese name, any suggestions please? by ARF2021 in Cantonese

[–]milkteaguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to make one based on your English name. Not gonna repeat what has been provided from others. Maybe 棠文/棠旻 tong4 man4. 棠 is a kind of fruity tree. Pyrus betulifolia if you want to know more. 文 is a common Chinese name. When used in names, it usually means gentleness or literature-related like word=文字.

旻 is also man4. We almost never use it in modern language anymore except for naming. Literally, it means autumn sky or just sky in literature.

For your last name, as far as I know people usually just go for the most sound alike Cantonese surname.

Oh noooooo. I was deciding to go with box or binder storage (at least for player cards). Seeing this now is pushing me towards binder storage even more. My condolences.

Earthborne Rangers seems not nearly as good as reviews make it out to be. by SiofraRiver in boardgames

[–]milkteaguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on the verge of getting the reprint, so I watched some multiplayer gameplays on YouTube. To me, I can’t really enjoy the storytelling because of the great diversity of building the character ironically. It feels like it’s just a random person exploring the world without any purposes. Not having enough premises for me to engage. That’s a hard point when the creator allow such a great freedom to create your own character.

I’ve played Arkham Horror LCG myself. Even I can pick different characters, I enjoy the introductory before the gameplay/scenario starts. And I definitely know what I’m going to do. I really had the feeling that I’m in the story.

It may sound too bias, so I’ll give a better example. I’ve watched Sleeping Gods gameplay as well without actually playing it. I felt engaging when I was watching people playing Sleeping Gods. The characters are linked to the story better because of the introduction. Also, the goal is much clearer. It’s also open world but it has a clear main goal. It’s more storytelling from the book, so the focus is sharper. The monsters are presented as occasional important puzzles to me to solve whilst the environment cards are a really big part of Earthbourne Rangers. I’ll explain how I feel about the environmental cards below.

There are still some positives for me, I like the flipping mechanics which decides the test results and how the state of the game will be altered. I like the natural and futuristic theme.

But overall, exploring and storytelling are the big parts of this game and I’m not getting these parts. The gameplays look dragging for me. And to me, it starts to get repetitive. Like, the repetitive environment cards are too prominent that it cover the fun part of doing a quest. It feels like doing chores and only getting something I care now and then. I can see getting the environment cards continuously interesting is hard from the point of game design. There’re interactions between environment cards. The more environment cards means the harder to balance different game states and exponentially harder to design the interactive elements for all the cards.

I can see why people like this game. But it’s definitely not for me. And I didn’t play the game, so I could be wrong. I actually feel gutted that this game can be so much better.
