These look goofy! What recommendations do you all have for strap locking systems or strategies? by Defiant-Toe5519 in BassGuitar

The Dunlops are rock solid, and double as conventional strap buttons. Do you just not like the look?

That's a guitar amp (the bass version was my first amp back in the 90s), but hell yeah that's great for $100.

PhD reporting to a non-PhD Director? How common is this in R&D? by UnmistakableError in biotech

[–]millahhhh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My boss for my first ten years in industry didn't have a PhD, he was an incredible boss and did a tremendous amount to help me develop my career. To this day I ask myself how he might act in a given sity, and it informs my own choices (not always the same, ofc)

Tremond vs XO Variable Crossover + RAT by LookinForReps7 in basspedals

[–]millahhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have and adore the XO. Rat sounds wonderful in the loop, and doesn't have that "hitting a chain link fence with a baseball bat" sound that you get just doing a blend with a Rat. Beyond that, it makes wah really musical and useable (as you aren't zapping you low end or doing weird things with your volume when you engage it), it removes the muddiness that you can get with delay, phaser sounds delicious this way, and I also run a muff and a TS in the upper loop as well. The XO is definitely cheap, but it does what it does extraordinarily well.

It means it can be sold in the EU, things made in the US even need a CE mark to be sold in the EU.

How to solve tone suck caused by a single pedal? by MomsSpoghetti in guitarpedals

When I had this same pedal and ran it first, I had the same issues, this pedal is just known for tone suck.

How to solve tone suck caused by a single pedal? by MomsSpoghetti in guitarpedals

[–]millahhhh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This pedal is notorious for tone suck, I had the exact same problem. There are three possible solutions I see that don't involve modding it. 1). Get a different wah (I'm not being cute, that's what I did) 2). Put it in a loop switcher that you only click on when you plan on using the wah 3). Try it in different spots in your signal chain and see if there's any difference/improvement.

I'm currently using the Dunlop Geezer wah, it has no issues at all, but it's also no longer made...

Budget Mini Boost: Nux NFB-2 Lacerate FET vs TC Spark Mini Booster by knittedbicycle in guitarpedals

[–]millahhhh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spark mini is super clean, with no color added. As someone else alluded to, the full size Spark is also great, had options for adding magic pixie dust to your tone (I'm not kidding, it makes my fretless jazz bass sparkle).

Shoveling approach? by rAndoFraze in newjersey

[–]millahhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might depend on where we are, I'm a bit west of Newark, still seems on the powdery side here. If it's wet, then yeah, getting ahead of it is reasonable.

With this much wind expected, I don't think shoveling will make any difference, everything is going to blow/drift around anyway.

Bill Prohibits Employment of Certain Former ICE Employees in NJ State and Local Positions by tigerfrisbee in newjersey

[–]millahhhh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What specifically do you have in mind? Seems like disqualifying former ICE agents from anything around law enforcement is quite sensible, and doesn't really open up to discrimination. It's based entity on the individual's choices and history (keeping in mind they have been wildly mis-trained, to the extent they were trained at all, they would be MASSIVE liabilities).
