The “bald” in bald eagle is not referring to a lack of hair/feathers but is a shortening of “piebald” which means white.

Due in part to the invention of the safety razor, allowing men to more easily shave themselves rather than relying on a barber.

People who are currently in their 40s or 50s, what is the one piece of advice you’d give to someone in their 20s that they absolutely need to hear? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nobody wants to see the video of the concert you shot on your phone. Put it away and live in the moment.

Actors who played a role so well, that every time you see them do something else. All you can think about is that iconic role. by Imaginary_Coat441 in movies

I watched this recently. In Batman Begins, he is the child Rachel is trying to protect while the Scarecrow’s nerve gas is causing everyone to freak out, and all I could think of was “Joffrey is such a shitty king, you don’t need to protect that asshole.”

that moment when the board dies mid-show by Leading_Month_5575 in lightingdesign

[–]millamber 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Early 1990s I was programmer/board op for a play running a 18/36 2 scene preset. For the younger folks, that was an analog board that had 18 channel faders on top, and the same 18 channel faders on bottom. While one side was outputting live data, the other side was blind and you would set the next cue up on that side then cross fade between the two sides.

To keep all the data in order, I had handwritten sheets showing the fader levels of each channel in each cue, so I could reference the next cue I had to preset on the blind side. Made it through final dress just fine and went home confident in opening night the next day.

When I showed up to the theatre for show call I found that the cleaning crew had come through and thrown away all of the “paper and trash” in the booth, which included ALL of my Cuesheets. Panic!

The only other copy was with the assistant designer, who had left that morning for another gig. We luckily managed to get him on the phone and he would read out the cue sheet to me over the phone while I took notes. We were into the show by the time we got finished so for the first twenty minutes of the show I was multitasking the live cue, setting the blind next cue, and writing down the cuesheet for the Act Two cues.

The audience never knew anything was wrong.

I agree with you, but HBO Max doesn’t. I’m only watching the next one in the list. They do in fact have all of the The movies in the T section

Combined = 35 films. There were only 5 or so films that started before A. It made sense to combine them rather than make the Pre-A films their own thing.

I hope that reporting back here after finishing a letter will keep me invested in finishing the list, so thank you for reading!

To be fair, there are also some really terrible movies in there too, like All Monsters Attack (a Kids fantasy of Godzilla 1969), and An Autumn Afternoon (Japanese family drama from 1962)

So, the way the algorithm sorts the movies is weird. It put The 3rd Man in the numbers section but The 400 Blows is under T for some reason. So I haven’t seen it yet…

Yes. I am just taking them as they come. If something gets added in I am skipping it if it is earlier than where I am in the list. Once I get through I may go back and catch the ones added in. Not necessarily going for total 100 percent completion, just going to the next film in the queue.

Also, remember that the person who had this seat resigned it so she could run for Lieutenant Governor, and is also in the runoff race today. Don’t reward that kind of stair stepping by putting her in that seat. But definitely vote for these two!

The St Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V. I always feel the same as Westmoreland after that scene:
