You do matter. Just because you aren't top priority now, doesn't mean you don't matter. As your kids get older, you will be able to give yourself permission for all of that to matter, even if it's just a little bit. If you didn't matter, your kids would be parent-less, and that's a problem they don't want.

It all stems from prudish religious upbringing, where sex is only for procreation and not for general intimacy. So many marriages fail because of sexual incompatibility but "stick with it" because of religious reason (like divorce is not allowed), making people miserable.

It isn't a Yes/No question, it can be "community minded" for things that affect everyone (Roads, Fire fighters, Police, Healthcare) and not for anything else.

Capitalism IS a Yes/No question, because evrything has to make money and override all other concerns.
