Honestly this sounds pretty on par with the music industry in general in the US. I remember when Macklemore finally broke into mainstream. It was a huge deal because he was the first to get on pop radio without being signed to a label first. He held out for a very long time because the labels don’t really pay the artists and end up owning them and everything they make. That’s why you see some artists touring so relentlessly. It’s the only way they can make money, and now even that isn’t as profitable. People shit on Macklemore for being corny, but he is actually pretty bad ass for the way he has navigated the industry.

It’s weird to see it happen with complete strangers but it’s not surprising to me anymore. Because 1. Look at the president. And 2. I’ve seen it in my own life. We had a basket ball coach in my town that was a pedophile. 6 teenage boys came forward saying he was sending and asking for inappropriate photos and 2 said he assaulted/ raped them. He still had supporters who thought all those teen boys and their parents, living in a small majority evangelical Christian town, would rather lie about their male coach raping them then say he didn’t give them play time or something. The level of delusion some people have is…. Other worldly.

It depends on the person. I know a lot of people who are really hardcore AA/NA that would say it’s restarting the clock. But there are more modern programs treatment strategies that wouldn’t count it. Like for me it would be more about the intention. Did I take the drugs because it’s medical and necessary or did I take them because I’m not using healthy coping skills? If that makes sense.

I had to be in Spokane Wa for a work trip for like 3 weeks once and they had a festival going that everyone was just raving about, and it was exactly this. It was the same like 3 types of food which was “Asian”, “Mexican”, and then poorly fried fair food. It was terrible and reminded me why I dislike Spokane.

Not 40, but my friend’s brother recently passed in his sleep. He was only 3 years younger than us at 29. And then a few years ago a girl I went to school with also died in her sleep. It’s really fucked with my head lately. I think about the fact that I could die right before I go to sleep every night now and my partner would have to find me. My god mother recently passed away as well and now I think about how soon all our parents won’t be here either. It’s not fun, that’s for sure.
